Hello, I am trying to find information about my great grandfather who lived for many years in Barry County, MI. For some time in the mid 1920's he was in Hastings, followed by Prairieville, then finally Crooked Lake, Delton, MI. His name was Arthur Charles Gates, but he went by Asa Gates. He was married at least twice, possibly 3 times. He worked for the Grand Rapids Airplane Co, followed by International Harvester, and then owned a farm implement/hardware store in Delton. I have a photo of the store, with him in front of it. I know nothing more of him. I am trying to fill in his life from about 1922 to his death in about 1960. He may have been a veteran, as he had a 3 gun salute at his funeral according to my father (he was only a child then). My father only met him twice. If anyone can help me with details about him, the store in Delton or anything, I would greatly appreciate it. I do know his siblings, his parents and where they hail from (NY before MI- near Pulaski). Any help appreciated. P. Fisher, )believe this to be Warren and Louisa P.-- Dora, b. Feb. 23, 1870 d. Dec. 8, 1920. According to the obit of Grace Fisher, daughter of Lucinda & Byron, she (Dora) was a cousin of Grace's from Battle Creek, surname Barber, I think probably she was married to David Barber as in Phillip Barber's obit, (senior Phillip) one of Phillips sons was David from Cascade, which is Battle Creek area. I also have a copy of a letter to Mrs. Dora Barber, Richland, Michigan, May 8, 1900, from her cousin "Grace". Later Dora Fisher Barber married Ernest H. Honeysett, and was his first wife. Also Jennie Fisher, dau. of Bryron and Lucinda Fisher (they are also in Cressey Cemetary) married Charles Honeysett and he was brother to Ernest Honeysett. I hail from the Honeysett side .RE: ------Jodie Doster's books, the Barry Cty one shows 2 Barber listings, 26 Fisher listi! ngs, and 27 Slater listings and as she also published the ENTIRE Doster genealogy she has 348 listings for DOSTERS.. She wrote a Kalamazoo County Pioneer book also and it has 19 Fisher listings, 32 Barber listings, 1 Slater listing, and 61 Doster listings. When I say "listings", there are really MORE as the count represents first name listings and maybe are referenced on more than one page. Pat/ Cascade is NOT Battle Creek it is G.Rapids, but is this instance it was referred to as Cascade, B.C. and since the obit says one son was in the far West, I'm thinking maybe British Columbia. Maybe Dora was marrried to Fred?

imacutegal- You know you are right, but when Phillip Barber's obit listed all his offspring, and David is listed, "David, Cascade, B.C." I jumped on the possibility that Dora Fisher Barber of Battle Creek, was married to David. My mistake. PaT
