Hi Phyllis, I found your Juliette and Joel on the 1880 Census index in Allegan County, town of Leighton. Roll T9-0569, Page 38A. The last name was spelled Geman. Gave both their birthplaces as PA. None listed for his parents but hers were both born in NY. They had children Carrie, Nellie, Arthur and Earnest. Also searching the 1880 Index, I found two couples with last name Fitch, both born NY, who were living in Yankee Springs. You might try the 1850, and 1860 censuses of Pennsylvania for Melvin Fitch b. abt. 1820 with wife Mary, b. abt. 1822, or Oscar Fitch, b. abt. 1826 and wife Caroline, b. abt. 1836. Good luck. Let me know if you go back and need any NY census lookups. Jen
