(Wilkinson) Oliver. She attended elementary and high school in Kalamazoo, and graduated from Western Michigan Teachers College. She earned her Masters Degree from the University of Michigan. She dedicated her life to teaching children in the Kalamazoo Public Schools. In 1972 Lucille moved to the family farm near Delton to care for her mother. There she enjoyed gardening, bird watching, cross-country skiing, and hiking in the woods. She was an animal lover, especially enjoying her Sheltie dogs, Bonnie, Lady, and Freshie. She was a member of the Inland Lakes Garden Club, Bernard Historical Society and the Kalamazoo Retired School Personnel, and Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Hastings. She was preceded in death by her father in 1955; and her mother in 1986. She will be missed by her many surviving! friends. Also surviving are cousins, Donna Perry of Lansing, Tom Oliver of Haslett, Jim Oliver of Kalamazoo, and Sherilyn Surine of Vicksburg. Respecting her wishes, cremation has taken place. Please join her friends and family on Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at 12:00 p.m. at the WILLIAMS-GORES FUNERAL HOME Delton at a Memorial Service in celebration of her life. He moved to Delton as a young man and operated the Leonard Brick Yard and a garage business for several years. He spent most of his life as a public servant, having been Sheriff of Barry County for 8 years, was relief administrator of Barry County for 3 years and the Delton Postmaster for many years. He was also Director of the First National Bank of Hastings for many years. Mr. Leonard was a member of the Hastings American Legion, Hickory Corners Masonic Lodge No. 345 F & AM. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during World War I. On Feb. 9, 1924, he was married to Fay Reynolds, in Indiana, who survives.
