    1. Warnings from England

    3. Dear List Members, I don't know how many of you have gotten back into the old country in your genealogies, but thought that I would pass this on - as I strongly believe that information should either be bought legitimately or made free by permission. Nottinghamshire, England's Family History Society has discovered counterfeit CDs being sold on EBay of their 1841 census images and transcriptions. These are NOT sold by the Society on Ebay - they have their own sales site. Right now, there is an identifiable error on the counterfeit cds, but that may be corrected in the future. The entire text of the warning is attached below (posted with permission of the author). No one is sure what ELSE might be on those cds, so if you think you've purchased one, I would recommend scanning it for viruses and whatnot and contacting the society (CDs aren't too expensive to send to England if they ask for it). So - buyer beware. Concetta Franco Alpena County GenWeb Coordinator Bay of Quinte GenWeb Coordinator ---------------------------------------------------- Nottinghamshire Family History Society believes that counterfeit copies of Society CDs are on sale to the general public on eBay from Nottingham and Liverpool locations. The Society takes no responsibility for any damage or any other consequence of using these CDs. The Society will not provide any support for these CDs. If you believe that you have bought counterfeit CDs then please inform the Society secretary. The Society is working with Trading Standards officers and the p.r.o to curb such practices. all in a DVD style box with approx 4 DVD/CD holders we have 2 copys we have sent 1 to the p.r.o - who are look in to this and 1 to the Trading Standards officers in nottingham Many thanks Regards Sheila Greenall Bookstall Manager Nottinghamshire Family History Society 10 Sherwin Walk St Anns Nottingham NG3 1AH Telephone 0115 9507362 monday to friday 9am to 4pm e-mail address sheila_greenall@yahoo.co.uk nfhs web page www.nottsfhs.org.uk __________________________________ Celebrate Yahoo!'s 10th Birthday! Hopefully you find your information on there! And if you do find it in another source, would you let me know so I can *point* others in the right direction? Thanks! Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/IFB.2ACE/1124.1 Message Board Post: B, Just looking at the SSDI, there are 39 John Foster's whose last residence was Michigan. From what I can tell, none of them are listed with a death in Alpena. I think, from reading your post, that you might actually want to start out posting to the Unknown Michigan board so that some people might be able to help you at a more general level. I would also suggest posting to the Oklahoma message boards and seeing if someone can help find the family near John's birth time - it will help you narrow down someone with such a common name later. Good luck in your search! Concetta Franco Alpena County GenWeb Coordinator

He had a brother named Billy and a sister named Rose and was at one time married to a woman named Eva Mae Cummins. He was known to travel to other states picking cherries and such as migrant work. It is rumored that she ended up in Alpena, Michigan, but I have had no luck in finding out when/where.
