Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/IFB.2ACE/845.1.1 Message Board Post: I found the grave of his wife, Eunice HOWE CULLINGS in Springport Cemetery south of Harrisville in Alcona County. I found William's obituary in The Alcona County Review of 28 Jul 1892. But it does not list where he was buried. It did state that he died at the county house in Alpena County. So I'm still searching for his burial place. Thanks for asking!!

Surnames: McKenzie, McNeil, Richardson, Hounsell, Johnson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/IFB.2ACE/1145.1 Message Board Post: This roster comes from the actual ledger record of students at this northern Long Rapids Twp. school. It was found in an estate sale of an unidentified former teacher in Flushing filled with 1910s-40s newspaper clippings from Detroit, London (England) and one from Alpena. Based on the clippings, I'd like to identify if it was a teacher. Grant Freer soon moved and lived his life out in Smohomish County, Washington. Its hard to track the women teachers in the census with married names? The first, Margaret McKenzie was likely the daughter of William and Martha nee McNeil McKenzie of Alpena but I'm unsure if or who she married. The same goes for E. (Edith) Richardson, Grace Hounsell, and Georgina Johnson.

Little pastored at the Baptist Church in Alpena during the 1880s, I believe. I'll bet he was an interesting man. I just found his name in a rural one-room school ledger circa 1908--he probably preached in the school building--and checked on his family. Born about 1837, the 1930 Alpena census shows him at 92, living in Alpena Township with his daughters.
