Posted on: Alpena County, Mi Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mi/Alpena?read=405 Surname: Lumsden, Griffith, Cochrane ------------------------- Trying to find marriage record for Catherine Griffith (originally from North Gower, Ontario) and William Lumsden (place of birth known only as Canada) married in Alpena Village in 1866. They raised a large family in Long Rapids. Catherine died 1889 and William in 1910. Their daughter, Rebecca Lumsden, married William Cochrane, who lived in Long Rapids, eventaully moving to Sault Ste. Marie. Any leads on William Lumsden in particular would be appreciated.

HI All, Since Presque Isle county enjoys a lot of ties to Alpena county, I thought I would post this to the mailing list. The 1870 Federal Census for Presque Isle County is now on line. Plans are being made to have the 1860 Census up shortly. (In 1860, Presque Isle Township was part of Mackinaw County, so that is all that will be posted.) Now that I am back online (recovering from a computer crash --- computers do get old and die out sooner or later), I am hoping to start copying some pages of Alpena birth records and getting them on line. I will be contacting those of you who so graciously offered your transcription services last year in the next couple of weeks. I still have to get to the LDS and order the tapes before I can make copies. Thanks for hanging in there.
