To the group: For the state of Delaware, and I would expect many other states, the original signed WW1 registration cards reside at NARA. In my case I went to NARA in Atlanta and request to see them. They brought out 9 boxes of the original cards, all of the S's for the state of Delaware. Both of my grandfathers, Sutor and Stockman were in the boxes. Two Sutor uncles were in there as well.. I copied (Xeroxed) all the cards, front and back. My grandfather Stockman was a surprise, I never knew his name (Sheldon Gridley Stockman b. 26 Jan 1885) and no one in the living family knew he was born in Michigan, everyone believed he was born in Virginia. That single incident got me started in genealogy. I believe I was told by NARA that cards from various states were distributed in several NARA's. Why Delaware cards would be in Atlanta and not in Philadelphia is a mystery. There is a lot of good information on the original cards that doesn't seem to be available online. Check your nearest NARA to see where your States cards are stored. The is a certain thrill to handling a document filled out and signed by a relative from another era. Bob Stockman Woodstock GA.
