For what it is worth, I sent a letter to Trinity Lutheran Cemetery (also known as "Old German Lutheran Cemetery.") I had death certificates for three individuals, so had death dates (all circa 1900-1920), and was looking for the cemetery records, i.e. who the contact people were, anything else recorded at time of burial. The cemetery folks replied by mail, saying that they effectively have no records, and that I already had much more information about the decedents than they did. I had previously posted a photo request for one of the individuals on www.Findagrave.com and some anonymous kind soul did go to the unmarked grave site and take a great picture of it. This person was able to get the site information from the cemetery office... but, apparently, that is all they have. --Kristi, in Iowa
I am such a big fat LIAR! This DID happen, but it was in regard to burials at Mt. Elliott (Catholic) Cemetery in Detroit, NOT Trinity Lutheran! I did write to Trinity Lutheran CEMETERY. They wrote in reply, saying that to provide burial record information, they required the death or burial date and $25.00 per individual record requested. My apologies for the incorrect information! --Kristi, in Iowa
