    3. Esther: This is what I found for you. This is a list of sites that I use to locate my Dutch relatives (Blok, Timmerman, Joosen, etc.) in Michigan. Early transcribers had a hard time spelling Dutch names, I have found. Do use the look-up volunteer, Karen, for Kent County to search the City Directories ...and she will send you the information that is available. Her email address will be on the Kent Co. website (listed below). The city directories tell the address, occupations, and where people worked and with whom they lived, so there is lots of information that you can put together from that. I got some information that is in city directories from ancestry.com and filled it in with information from the look-up volunteers. I no longer belong to ancestry.com or I would look up some information for you. But you can request a look-up of the city directory information on ancestry.com from this site and some nice person will find it for you. Hopefully, you have placed your requested information on the Message Board for your surnames on ancestry.com. (It is free to post there) as well as genealogy.com's message board. Both are free. Marinus Jacobus van der Wiere Genealogical Death Indexing System - Michigan 1867-1897 Use all counties and misspellings. http://www.mdch.state.mi.us/gendisx/scripts/search.asp Western Michigan Genealogical Society Online Multiple data bases, but must search each separately. Some are free, but for others, you must pay for all of the information. Below is what I found on a quick search. You must try all different versions of the last name, with and without spaces. Newspapers - Obits available - Looks like lots of relatives! The obit might name the church and cemetery and family members. Do check Ottawa Co. as lots of Dutch family information is there too. Ottawa County, Michigan Dutch Families. You must search on each site. There is a VANWIEREN site. ALso multiple cemeteries as well. Ottawa Co. is right next to Kent Co.
