    3. Shirley In order for us to help you, you will need to do some groundwork to help us. If you don't know your grandfather's name, how can you find out? Start with you. What are your parents' names? If they are living, ASK them your grandparents' names. ASK them where he lived. That's a good start. You may have to take small steps, but each answer you find will lead you to more information. You will find this much easier if you learned the basic steps in genealogy. Google "basic genealogy" and see what you find. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Pines/8102/ is a start. http://www.angelfire.com/tx/carolynegenealogy/syllabus.html is another. http://www.cyndislist.com/howtotut.htm is an excellent resource. And there are bezillions of others. If you look at genealogy the way you would look at a puzzle, you'll understand. From one basic piece to another to another, eventually you will have the picture.
