    1. Re: [MI-GENEALOGY] WHEN WRITING TO ELECTED OFFICIALS ABOUT THELIBRARY...
    2. Peggy, History and Genealogy are the same only looking at it from a personal or public view. Denying us any information to this information is denying all from genealogy of some and history from all. No, my relatives did not make any big history though without them doing what they did would be saying they weren't important to history. This is my genealogy that is being cut off when I can't find several of my main line relatives. I need time and help. I have not been able to find the right person with the right information to help me. Dorothea In a message dated 7/25/2009 5:08:54 A.M. 3. Hi Dorothea, Make no mistake, I am not happy about the situation with the Library. If you will look back at the list archives you will see that I am the person who made the initial postings. My intention was to motivate people to become involved in saving the library. I am very aware of the definition of history and genealogy. What I am objecting to in regards to postings to the list are those remarks about politics, which have no bearing whatsoever on genealogy or history. The remarks are personal opinions only and should be saved for someplace other than on a genealogy mailing list. There are any number of people on the Michigan Genealogy mailing list-- including myself--who attempt to help others find their roots. I spent many years trying to connect a 3x-great grandfather to his parents, so I know about frustration. I have another 3x-great grandfather for whom I probably will never find parents, and he was born in Michigan. If you need assistance, please don't hesitate to post a request to the list. I can assure you, at the very least you will have one person try to help. We are all on this mailing list for the same reason--genealogy. Everyone is entitled to their feelings about those holding elected offices, but a genealogy list is no place for those feelings to be aired.
