    1. Re: [MI-Genealogy] AZEGLIO o ASEGLIO
    2. Natalie, Forgive me for jumping into the discussions, but I wanted to share some information with you. I am quite familiar with Iron Mountain. Iron Mountain is a beautiful area, heavily forested and lots of big hills - not really mountains as you would think. The area was heavily mined for iron ore in the later part of the 1880s and early 1900s. Copper was also mined in nearby towns. Thousands of men from Italy, Finland and the other European countries traveled there to find work. It was very common for the Italian men to work the coal mines in Pennsylvania and then move to Michigan. That was the case in my wife's family. Life in those mines was very hard on the miners and their families. Health care was limited. Many of those men moved on to other, more prosperous mining operations in other regions, but even today the descendants of those early miners live in the area we refer to as Michigan's Upper Peninsula. They no longer operate any of those old mines - the last ones closed years ago. But there are museums and lots of written history about the area. I wish you good luck in tracking your family - and hope you find all that you are looking for. Tim Stark Naples, FL
