Yes, this is now up and running. Offered by the Library of Michigan, all Michigan residents can access HeritageQuest through the Michigan eLibrary: http://mel.org. Click on "See databases from home" at the top of the page, and find HQ in the list. It does require a Michigan drivers license or state ID authentication. Other communities across the U.S. may have similar home access via their local libraries, but this arrangement from the Library of Michigan is statewide for all residents of the state of Michigan.
