    3. In an old diary, I have found the following: "It was the style then to make rag carpets, rugs and patchwork quilts. There used to be considerable competition sometimes as to who would have the prettiest ones. I have seen some really handsome carpets they made and some of the quilts were real works of art. There was an old lady did the weaving, who just passed away last year (this would have been 1927) at the age of 98; it was told how many yards of rag carpets she had woven but I do not remember the number - it was a great many. What good times we used to have at the quilting bees. I am sure we enjoyed ourselves as much and had as much fun as the ladies of today do at their bridge parties." The woman writing this letter lived in Caro - does anyone have any idea who the 98 year old woman might have been? carolyn in rhode island
