Thanks, Patiann. I'll see if either of those fit. The certificate is very clear, so I have the letters right, but they may have been wrongly written to begin with. I wonder if there is a Munich, Michigan, - all I come up with has to do with beer! I appreciate your interest and help. Marie

Well those two cities came off the new Michigan map that i just got as celebration of 50yrs for the Mackinac Bridge.... but I will keep searching...i have old michigan maps...so will see....you know it could have been. and then got renamed..... and if those are on certificates, they have to have the right spelling...it's not like the census being taken where the census taker had to sound out the name...cause the people couldn't spell... patiann mstephen <[email protected]> wrote: Thanks, Patiann. Death certificate information is only as good as the informant's knowledge - and she (in this case the daughter in Illinois) could have been way off. I have found these as "mun" beginnings in Michigan: MUNGER, MUNISING, MUNITH, MUNSON, MUNUSCONG, and none of these look promising. The parents were both from Canada, so I wonder about a village or something close to where they may have come into the country. Will look again at immigration lists although so far I haven't found Read coming in. Also must consider another vowel instead of the "u". Will try that, too. Again, thanks. Marie PS- Joyce, Patiann gave a good explanation - just delete the emails themselves that are of no interest - don't get off the list. You'll miss out on some very helpful messages and people willing to help get one over the hump. Thanks to all.
