According to my research 99% of all the Livermore in the United States are a direct decent from a John Livermore and Grace Sherman who came to the US in 1638. John would be my 8th great grandfather. The city is named after a English ship captain named Robert Livermore who came to this area during the gold rush. He married a woman from this area and farmed here in Livermore. He is buried in Mission San Jose which is close to here. I don't know if there is a connection but who knows in genealogy. Thought you might be interested.
