John, Not sure if it would cost the same - but I just got a copy of my biological father's death certificate for a $10 fee. It had on it the cause of death, and other pertinance information. It was from MN, but all I had to do was contact them - give them name, certificate # and date of death. I thought $10 bucks was a good price. Hopefully IL has a low price also. Contact the County Clerk where he died.
