The state of Illinois has a system called IRAD. Illinois Regional Archive Directory. Main Street Princeton, IL 61356 Telephone: County Clerk Circuit Clerk Recorder (815) 875-2014 (815) 872-2001 (815) 875-2014 IRAD Depository Regional History Center Founders Memorial Library Room 400 Northern Illinois University DeKalb, IL 60115 Telephone: (815) 753-1807 Call the depository, and a student assistant will help you. You are allowed 2 requests per call / letter. They will then look up the record, mail it to you, and send you a bill which people send money back on good faith. The "bills" (unless something big like probate) usually run $1.00 per copy of the record. If the copy charge is more than $5.00, they will send you a letter asking if you wish to pay more for the record. The system is amazing. Usually if I call on Monday, I have it in my hands by Friday... or the following Monday.... Good luck... and have fun with this IRAD system... they have TONS of info for us genealogists!
