Dear Linda,   When I first got my FTM 2009 I wasn't convinced I would like it either.  I kept using my older 2007 version until I realized that most all other programs on ancestry and other sites were using a similar pattern like the 2009.  I decided to use 2009 until I got use to it (changes sometimes are hard).  There are so may new functions in the 2009 that you can do.  One feature is the Web search.  You can do any web search on any indivdual and up pops everything that is in Ancestry.com's records.  Births, Deaths, Marriages, Censuses, Newspaper articles, war records (with footnotes) and on and on.  When you bring up these records you can merge them right into your records of that person.  No copy, no paste, no saving to another document and transferring to your own data base.  Also sources records are recorded along with the documents.  Change is what the future is all about.  I would suggest you keep your 2009 and work with it.  You will be glad that you did.
