I live in Illinois Now - and try to make it to Mi once a year If I'm lucky. Maybe next time I go I'll try to venture to that area. It is just a short drive out of the camp park to it. I believe it is on the West side of the street, a short walk down a path, in the woods. The grass had been cut and there were many old stones and many NEW ones people had placed there. If you live in Michigan, especially on the eastern side, it is a very nice drive to Port Crescent and the cemetery. A drive up M53 should bring you there or a drive up M25 along the lake is the scenic drive. You can do it in a day. While going up there be aware there is an interesting site at the Sanilac State Park, just east of Bad Axe, where there is an enclosed sandstone rock that the ancient Native Americans drew pictures on. I understand June 20th, there will be a person from the park system to describe what is on the rock. Other times the rock is enclosed with a 12 foot fence and the rock has a roof over for protection. Lots of information is on the signs on the fence. Here are some web sites or just Google Petroglyphs and learn about them. _http://www.michigandnr.com/ParksandTrails/Details.aspx?id=490&type=SPRK_ (http://www.michigandnr.com/ParksandTrails/Details.aspx?id=490&type=SPRK) _http://kyluka.com/briefing/Sanilac_Petroglyphs_Michigan_ (http://kyluka.com/briefing/Sanilac_Petroglyphs_Michigan) Sue Date: Wed, 3 Jun 2009 15:43:14 -0500 From: "Dalle, Nancy, Civ, 126 CES, CEOR, 4878" <Nancy.Dalle@ilscot.ang.af.mil> Subject: [MI-GENEALOGY] Port Crescent Michigan / Schlegelmilch Looking to see if anyone is from or near the Old City of Port Crescent. I'm told there is a cemetery there with a lot of Schleglemilch's buried. Am looking to find picture of gravestones or just names, dates and places. Any help would be welcomed.
