City Directories for Detroit are available through your local Family History Center on microfiche and microfilm. They start at 1837, 1845,1846, and then annually from 1850 through 1935. You don't need to know an occupation, since all householders or persons currently employed are listed alphabetically with street addresses and their current occupation.
