I found "A" Oren Cline, who died 1914 in Michigan Veterans Home in Kent. Obit had no family information. A volunteer told me that death records for "This" Oren Cline, showed his Father as Abram Cline b: NY. Veteran's Home Records talked about "This" Oren Cline's sister Lucy. Well Census in 1860, Tioga, Tioga Twp, PA shows Abram & Catherine Kline, listing Orin and sister Lucy and others. My Question........ I have found all this information, I am hoping that "This Oren Cline" is "Our Oren Cline". But how can I prove it? How can I prove "This Abram" is his father ? Can anyone share their expertise with me. I pray that I have finally found "Our Oren Cline" that would knock down that brick wall. But I need to know how, where and what I must do to prove "Oren and his father Abram. P.S. My Oren Cline married Julia Gallagher and my branch is their son Edward born Oct 5, 1894 or 1895 in Michigan. 1900 Census Schoolcraft Orrin & Julia and Edward and the rest of the kids. Also Edward told family he was orphaned. I wonder if after 1900 Julia died and Oren (ill) could not take care of all those young kids. Because Oren died in 1914 and Edward would have been 20 when his father died. That is, "If " I have found the correct "Oren Cline". My Edward Cline, lived and died in Franklin County, Ohio. Hi. I have a similar situation in my family. Family in Orleans County, NY moved to Erie, PA then the son moved on to the west side of Michigan and joined the Civil War from about the same area as your ancestor. He even spent a little time at the Michigan Soldier's Home in Grand Rapids. Interesting migration... Anyways, I would highly recommend you to order Oren's military pension file. I don't seem to see one listed on the index at ancestry.com, but go to the NARA website and put in as much of your relative's info that you are sure about and then wait. [no charge if they don't find anything.] I just did this with one of my relatives that I knew had some health issues. I submitted his b/m/d, military and other info and, BINGO, they sent me a file I didn't know even really existed!!! Well, if you do happen to get a file, it could contain his wife's name, maybe an affidavit from someone that you can connect the other Oren to, children's names, and his birthplace. Another thing you should do is research Oren's siblings. Sometimes combining all of the family records gives a much more informed picture. Keep us informed of your success. Donna Michigan
I guess that we got our family members mixed up, as I was looking for someone who had information on the Hortick's, a Joseph born in 1823 or a Soloman Hortick born in 1855, I found Soloman buried in Argyle Cementary in Sanilac county. Thank you so much for getting back to me. Its real refreshing that anyone will take the time to write back. God Bless you, this has not been easy to work on this family when everyone is gone, and this is my first time doing a family tree.
