I'm wondering if you might be able to help me: My great grandmother Sarah was born abt August 12, 1899 in the Escanaba, Delta area. According to my mom, Sarah was born on a tiny island that you could only get to by boat. Given the date and remote location, I'm not surprised I've been unable to locate any birth records for her... but I might be able to get somewhere if you could help me, if you have marriage info on her parents... I only hope they left the island to be married at a place that kept records! Her parents were Elizabeth (Lizzie) Leonard and John(I think) Montag/Montague. I think they must have been married by 1899, the time of Sarah's birth, but am not certain - as family lore has always treated this in a way that seemed "scandalous". John was apparently French Canadian, no idea on his parents' names. Lizzie was the daughter of Edward and Louisa Leonard/Leonhartsen, immigrants from Norway or Sweden. This marriage only lasted a few years, with only 2 girls (Sarah and Edna) born out of it, and then they divorced. Thank you in advance for any information you can give me on this marriage, Debbie Stotts Long Beach, WA > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > Date: Mon, 24 Sep 2007 10:44:19 -0400 > Subject: [MI-GENEALOGY] Asahel H Woodward > > We maintain the Michigan Marriage Index Database that has the following > record: > > ASAHEL H WOODWARD m LIZZIE - SHOUP in BERRIEN cnty 11 JUL 1901 CTY REC# 0588 > > We do not have a record for Eleaser W. > > If this record is related to you we would like to add your email address as > a reference for other reseachers. > > Jack & Marianne Dibean - Lansing Michigan > GenWeb Archives: > http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/marriages/michigan/michigan.htm > Email Address: [email protected] > WWII Memorial: www.wwiimemorial.com > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Edward Woodward" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Monday, September 24, 2007 8:38 AM > Subject: [MI-GENEALOGY] (no subject) > > > > Looking for the father of Asahel Woodward.
