My gg grandfather, Minor KELLOGG, son of Jonathan KELLOGG, and Harriett PORTER, was born in Wentworth, Ontario, Canada, in 1810. The only record I have found of this birth is in a family Bible. (A Joel KELLOGG was recorded as a witness). Jonathan and family were in Mina, Chautauqua Co., NY, for the 1825 and 1830 census, and when their son Walter was born in March, 1831. He is found in the 1840 Livingston Co.Michigan Fed Census, and the 1850 Hillsdale Co Fed Census, where Jonathan's birthplace is given as CT. A possible father of Jonathan KELLOGG is Thomas KELLOGG, b.1 Aug 1743, Canaan, CT, s.of Eliasaph KELLOGG and Rachel BENEDICT (#203,page 81, Hopkins, "The Kelloggs in the Old World and the New.") He and his wife were members of "Ye Church at Philippi," (Southeast, NY) at the time of the baptism of their sons Jonathan, Thomas, (who died) and Thomas. He is not listed in the 1790 CT Federal Census. A Thomas Kellogg is listed in Caughnawaga Town, Montgomery County,NY, 1790 census, with one male over sixteen, two males under sixteen,and one female. The 1800 census of Herkimer Co., NY, lists Thomas Kellogg. 45+ yrs.,one male 10-16, one female 25-45, and one female 45+. Any suggestions for research for the birth of Minor KELLOGG, birthplace of his parents, etc.?
