I have some Smiths in my line living in Emmet Co. and St. Clair Co. You might check there. Subject: [MI-Genealogy] William Harold Parker and Catherine Melissa Smith My grandparents on my father's side were William Harold Parker and Catherine Melissa Smith. They are deceased, as are my parents, and I'm having a very difficult time finding info on their births, marriage, parents, etc. They appear on the 1930 U.S. Census in Otisville, MI showing my father as a son. I cannot identify either as a child in a family in the earlier censuses (1900, 1910, 1920). I believe Catherine had brothers named Dan and Carl.Smith and the Smith family had a farm in the Otisville vicinity. William worked for years as a salesman for U.S. Steel. I don't remember their dates of death except I think my grandfather died in the 1950s and my grandmother in the 1960s. In the years I knew them (40s, 50s, and 60s), they lived in East Tawas, MI. I cannot find Catherine in the U.S. Social Security Death Index and, though there are many William Parkers in the index, I cannot find any with enough info to made a positive identity.
