I think I must start with Geo Washington, lately of the Long’s. I possess a wee bit of evidence that he was married on 30 Mar 1884, in Saginaw, Saginaw Co, MI… by John Ure, Justice of the Peace… married to Lydia Fluellen Parks. Now, Lydia was my granny; and, my route back to the landing at Plymouth. So, the Mayflower Society should have a copy of their M/C in their achieves. Or, Saginaw County should have a copy of such certificate. My 1st step is to beg, borrow or steal …maybe even buy… a copy of this M/C. I hope it doesn’t just say “born Canada…parents unspecified”… but with my luck……? Optimistically, this document should give me his father’s 1st name; mother’s maiden name… and hopefully… a little more than “born Canada.” Wouldn't that be nice? It would be a key to open the door to all those “cousins by the dozens” that I am alleged to have in Canada… cousins to whom I will be able to leave all my money… when I step behind the velvet curtain. So far, I have no one. My next step would be… should I be somewhat successful with the 1st… would be to find a copy of his… Geo Washington Long… his B/C… in Ontario or who knows where? Was he born 30 Mar 1851 in or near-by Toronto, as I’ve been told? But, if I get that far… I would be happy… for a while. Thank you, all you listeners… for listening… John E Long ***************************** The theme of this list is Michigan genealogy and research.
