    2. Unfortunately, Port of Entry means the first port of the US that a ship stops, and does not necessarily mean where passengers disembarked. Your gr grandfather may have disembarked in New York, but if the ship first stopped at another US port that will be the port of entry. Wisest thing is to start checking Boston and Philadelphia and work further in either direction. My Gt Grandfather's destination was Bay City, Michigan and we have paperwork suggesting he was on the Germanic going to New York in June 1881. However, I can find no record of him arriving at Castle Garden. I was wondering if he could have got off at Boston?
