    3. Karin, You are right. The Lydia, in the Pilot Site, is my grandmother. She died 20 yrs prior to my birth. I never knew her. She was born to a well known Parks family in Saginaw on 10 Mar 1867. At age 17 (and 20 days), on 30 Mar 1884, she married George Washington Long, age 26. In the 1900 US Census for Reeder Twp, Missaukee Co, MI it is recorded that Geo is 49, born in Canada. Imm to US 1869. Father born in England; mother, Canada. (Note: this is an error. Agnes Armet, was born in Ireland, imm to Canada). Unless, Madam Armet is not my great granny… horrors for the thought. Lydia’s middle name was Fluellen. Quite unique and individualistic. During this marriage, she gave birth to 7. My aunts and dad… all b. in MI. Maggie was really Margaret Maude, b. 20 Mar 1886. Jennie Agnes, b. 24 Sep 1887. Lola Belle, b. 14 Jun 1889. Bertha Doris, b. 31 Jul 1891. John Emmett (my father), b. 5 Sep 1893. Then there’s my aunt Lizzie… the mysterious one. I have failed to find anything abt her. She is in a family portrait I possess… made ca 1886. But she is not in the 1900 census with the other family members. An elderly cousin of mine sez… she married twice… not sure of their names …but thinks the 1st was a Jones …had 2 dau… a Ruth and a Ruby. She thinks the 2nd was a Warner or Werner …and had 2 dau… Faye and June. Then 2 sons… Bobbie (surely it’s Robert) and Clare. I fail to find anything on Lizzie (maybe Elizabeth). Remains a mystery! After 15 yrs, 7 mos, on 18 Oct 1899, Lydia and Geo filed for divorce…granted in 1901. Lydia then married, at age 36, a Michael Ward. I found 2 dates for this 2nd marriage. On 11 (or on 27) Apr 1903 in Park Lake, Osceola Co, MI (witnesses were Harriet Sheldon and Emma DuRoy). Michael Ward was 25, born 1878 in Canada. His parents were Michael Ward and Catherine Linch (could it be Lynch?). Michael and Lydia Fluellen Parks Long Ward lived in McBain, MI …until her death 6 mos later on 28 Sep (or 9 Oct) 1903 at the age of 36 yrs…from uremia poisoning. She is buried in Marion, Osceola Co. Cemetery? I don't know. All this, I have filed under BAD Info… best available data …don't you know. Thank you for your input. 2. OK..so to sum up...the thing you are searching for is the birth of George Washington Long, born abt March 1851 in Toronto; mother was Agnes Armet (could this possibly be ARNOTT). You do not know his father's name? George?married Lydia Fluellen Parks in Saginaw Mi in 1884. They divorced in 1901 Do you know if George was ever married before or after Lydia? Where was George's residence after the divorce? Do you know when he died? Or where? I have searched Ancestry & Family Search as well as some of the early Canadian census, but I dit not find any new info. Maybe if you could locate a death cert, it would help. I could search for you in Saginaw County if that is where he lived or died. Karin

    3. Dear Karin, Yes, I now could believe the Armet surname could be Arnott/Annet/Annett or any semblance of such. His father (we have believed for decades) was George Long. Now, appears it could be Edward, Edwin, Edmund (as 1st name and Geo, a middle one; or vice versa). By any name… he remains my great granddad. He, along with Agnes, had at least 1 issue… Geo Washington Long, b. 30 Mar 1851 in Canada; imm 1869; marr. Lydia Fluellen Parks in Saginaw on 30 Mar 1884. Only census in which I have found them is 1900 US Census for Reeder Twp, Missaukee Co. Even there my aunt…Lizzie is missing. After the divorce …Geo Washington declares himself… a farmer (instead of a millwright). His residences include… Thomasville Twp… Sault Ste Marie… Osceola County… Harrison Twp… Mecosta County… and others, I am sure. In the 1920 US Census for Chicago, Cook Co, IL… there is a George Long living with dau Bertha (my aunt Bertha?) and her husband Zelotes Milligan. Appears this could be Geo W …but, this Geo has a wife listed… Mary. We question a 2nd marriage at his age. But…………? D/C and M/C on Lydia and Geo W, would indeed help. Thanks, Karin, John E Long On Thu, May 28, 2009 at 10:33 AM, <ladypines@aol.com> wrote: > OK..so to sum up...the thing you are searching for is the birth of George Washington Long, born abt March 1851 in Toronto; mother was Agnes Armet (could this possibly be ARNOTT). 3. Hi, This is for anyone who has ancestors living in MI. In the Mecosta co. or surrounding areas. We were at a yard sale yesterday in Big Rapids and I found a scrap book that they were selling and found four pictures in the book. Didn't know why they were selling them unless they found them a house that they bought. The first picture looks to be about maybe in the very late 1800's to the early 1900's as the dresses are knee length. There is a log cabin behind them with a barn next to it. There is two men and two women with a child about 3or 4 years of age. and on the back is written grandpa and grandma Benkerski or Benherski and Aunt Hattie, Vernon or Veron, Char Slakajlys. It is hard to read the writting so maybe actually spelled differently. Two of the other pics are senior pictures one of Tom Stefonek 1964 and Bernard Schulz graduate 1949. And the last picture is a group pic of Rhinelander's Junior High School Band. Class of 1949/1950. If anyone who maybe related to these families please let me know and I will give you the pictures. I did not want them to get throw out as so many do. Sorry that this is so long. Vivian Brandal

    3. Thank you Vivian for posting your article about the found pictures.  They are not my relatives, but I just discovered that a desk drawer of such treasures were left behind during the sale of the family farm in the 1960's.  The last name was WAISANEN and the farm was Rt. 2 Daggett, Menominee County, MI.  I sure wish someone had those papers that were disregarded so many years ago.  Thanks for being so kind.   Cecelia    ________________________________ From: brandal <wintertime@netonecom.net> To: mi-genealogy@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, June 1, 2009 2:29:19 PM Subject: Re: [MI-GENEALOGY] George Washington Hi, This is for anyone who has ancestors living in MI. 3. Dear John, I live in Osceola county, Michigan. An not sure where Park Lake is at but I only live a few miles from Marion and if you would like I could see if I could find her grave and take pics for you. McBain is also not very far from me. Maybe about eight miles or so. McBain is also in another county, Missaukee county but the counties are so close that she could have live in the McBain area and close to Marion. Let me know if I can help you out any. I will be glad to do it because everyone on the sites have been so good to me that I am so glad to help someone out.
