Have you become acquainted with Footnote.com yet? It is probably the premier site for military information. Start with his Civil War record and go from there. Also, have you checked censuses after the 1890? I just found a copy of his death registration on Seekingmichigan.com, which is available only to Michigan residents at this point. Here is what it says: Randolph DIMICK died Howard City, Montcalm County MI white male born Jan 23 1836 Aged 73 yrs, 8 months, 8 days Single Born New York Father name not known, born not known Mother name not known, born not known Occupation: Veteran of Civil War Informant: Gathered from various sources Signed: A Barber, Howard City Died: Aug 23 1909 Cause of death: Not definitely known. Had been having diarrhea for several days, probably enteritis. Found on toilet few minutes before death. (Signed by a doctor in Howard City.) Place of Burial: Reynolds Cemetery. Aug 24, 1909 (further signatures) I would scan this document, but it is too blurred to get a good scan. If you contact the Montcalm County Clerk, probably they could send you a copy of this information. HTH. I have been on the list of this web site for several months. I had run into my "Brick Wall" trying to find the reason for the death of a Great Uncle who died at the age of 28. After reading your message, I tried your suggestion to someone else to look at seakingmichigan.com - Lo & Behold - I found my G uncle's death certificate there! I had tried everyother web site I had heard of with no results. Thank you so much. I think my brain fell asleep there for a minute..... it is http://seekingmichigan.org (NOT .com) and I can't remember why I said it was available only to Michigan residents. Probably thinking of the HeritageQuest site available only to Michigan residents through the Library of Michigan. Time for bed.
