I am wondering if some one could look up an obit for the following persons: George CAMP - Born - 4 Nov 1910 in Detroit Died - 29 Dec 1984 in Detroit James HEALY - Born - 30 Jan 1981 in Detroit Died 21 Feb 1963 in Detroit James DEVERS - Born abt May 1860 in Ireland Died 27 Jan 1949 in Detroit Many thanks in Advance Eileen Sullivan Tormey/New Hampshire
I am looking for suggestions as where to locate information on the following person - she is our brick wall. June Tormey or (Settlemier) born 8 Jun 1922. She is the daughter of Josephine Tennant and George Dewey Settlemier. The mother died mysteriously in Detroit on 10 Oct 1927and is buried in Parkview Cemetery in Detroit. The father left the children in Detroit, going back to Oregon and started another family. The last I found of June was on the 1930 census living with her grandmother, Olive Tormey. The children were never formally adopted. The four children scattered - We do not know who she married if she did. The last we know of June, is that she was mentioned in her brother's (George Tormey) obituary when he died in 1987. No last name was referenced but that she lived in Detroit. So, one of my questions, would be is there a marriage index for MI that lists maiden names and/or a death index that would reference her maiden name. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Eileen Sullivan Tormey/New Hampshire
I'm searching for more information about my GGM Maria Jesko Smar (Czmar). Born in ? Czechoslovakia abt. 1856. Married John Czmar abt. 1876 in Czechoslovakia. Immigrated to Olean, N.Y. abt. 1912, later moving to Detroit, MI. Had five daughters and two sons. After John's death in Detroit in 1925, lived with daughter Katie Androyna in Detroit until Marie's death in 1936. Any information correcting and/or adding to the above data is appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you for that LDS lead. I had already looked at that but cannot find anything more about John's life. I have checked St. Albertus' site and Dziennik Polski's site. Since I live in Texas, I have to request a copy (from Michigan's library) of the microfilm of early editions of the newspaper to see what I can find. I have not yet made that request. Thank you very much for that lead. I have a copy of Edward Welsand (son)'s GEDIS document. John's wife's name is Thekla Welsand. They had (maybe?) 8 other children. My aunt Clara was born in Detroit in 1895 and my father John Jr. was born in Detroit 1897. I don't know Edmund's place (Michigan) or date of birth except that the GEDIS says he was 4 months and 7 days old when he died which would make his BD November 11, 1884, I believe. The family says there may have been as many as 7 other children other than Edmund, Clara, and John Jr. MWL SCIGSC@aol.com wrote: > Marilyn: > > Do you know what his wife's name was ? > > Did they have other children, other than Edmund? > > What was Edmund's date of birth and place of birth? > > > > In a message dated 5/12/2009 11:50:02 P.M., marilynlamping@att.net writes: > > My grandfather -- Jan (John) Welsand -- was born in Poland in 1852. > He came to Detroit (or possibly Chicago where he may have stayed briefly) > after 1878, I think. If you go to http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html?datestamp=120689 7516187#p=0 And once there, click on the map of North America, it will give you a list of resources. Scroll down this list until you get to the Michigan entries. There are some births, deaths and marriages. Click on any of them, and put the name Welsand in. There is the death you mention, but also a Clara, and a John B. They may be leads. ----- Original Message ----- From: <SCIGSC@aol.com> To: <mi-genealogy@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, May 13, 2009 2:53 AM Subject: Re: [MI-GENEALOGY] Looking for Jan (John) Welsand > Marilyn: > > Do you know what his wife's name was ? > > Did they have other children, other than Edmund? > > What was Edmund's date of birth and place of birth? > > > > In a message dated 5/12/2009 11:50:02 P.M., marilynlamping@att.net writes: > > My grandfather -- Jan (John) Welsand -- was born in Poland in 1852. > He came to Detroit (or possibly Chicago where he may have stayed briefly) > after 1878, I think.
