Apology for not responding sooner. I am grateful for any and all help. There may be a connection. There was something about a wife passing and marrying a cousin of the wife or sister...?? I believe that was Joseph Walters (My great grand father) but only stories at this point. Curious that yours is somewhat similar. Also, I have a great uncle that played steel guitar, Chum was what they called him, I will have to double check but I think his name was Daniel? Anyway, I will get it together and check all my info I have and list some names and dates and see if any of yours match up. Dick Rohr,     As I said to Patsy, sorry for not responding sooner, All help is gratefully appreciated! I don't recall Cheboygan County coming up in any "chats" but of course that does not mean they are not relatives. I will check out what I have and get more information on here, first names as you said. Might be a connection. Thank you very much for offering. 2. Nancy Keith
    3. Shirley In order for us to help you, you will need to do some groundwork to help us. If you don't know your grandfather's name, how can you find out? Start with you. What are your parents' names? If they are living, ASK them your grandparents' names. ASK them where he lived. That's a good start. You may have to take small steps, but each answer you find will lead you to more information. You will find this much easier if you learned the basic steps in genealogy. Google "basic genealogy" and see what you find. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Pines/8102/ is a start. http://www.angelfire.com/tx/carolynegenealogy/syllabus.html is another. http://www.cyndislist.com/howtotut.htm is an excellent resource. And there are bezillions of others. If you look at genealogy the way you would look at a puzzle, you'll understand. From one basic piece to another to another, eventually you will have the picture. 3. Sue,   If you are looking for a death certificate between 1897 to 1920, you can go to www.seekingmichigan.org and click on the "seek" tab - fill in the form and find what you are looking for.   Joyce --- On Tue, 6/30/09, SUSAN SCHROEDER <susieq1028@q.com> wrote: From: SUSAN SCHROEDER <susieq1028@q.com> Subject: [MI-GENEALOGY] Death Certificate To: mi-genealogy@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, June 30, 2009, 8:44 PM I'm having an awful time.  Can someone please give me the address in Lansing or a phone number to obtain a death certificate?
