    2. Maria Sibson
    3. Thanks Pam for the info. Yes, I tried to think of different spellings on both names. Their first and only child was born on November 26, 1890 in Toledo, Lucas Cnty, Ohio and I am checking it out, but have not found a thing as of yet. I just can't seem to find anything about them before 1900. Thank you again. 3. Thank you for the info, I have searched that site, with both names, Crossman and Hopwood and have not found them in there. According to the census Louise A. Hopwood came to this country (from Wales) abt. 1880, and was married abt. 1885. But, obviously not in Michigan. Is there a way to find out where they were married at? My grandmother was born in 1890 in Lucas County, Ohio so I know they were there at that time. But can not find them there in any census. And in 1900, 1910, 1920, and 1930 he was a Police Officer in Detroit. Is there any thing on the web about the police officers in Detroit around this time? I couldn't find anything. But, someone might know of something. I am not sure when they arrived in Jackson, MI but both of them died in Jackson, MI Charles Crossman was born in Tecumseh, MI on April 1, 1862, and died in Jackson July 20, 1952. Louise died in Jackson June 3, 1951. 3. Maria, I think that just because their marriage is not listed, doesn't indicate they weren't married there in Michigan. Case in point, I know that several of my family marriages occurred in Michigan, however they are not listed in the Dibean marriage index. I can't tell you why they aren't listed. Maybe there isn't a record of all the marriages for all counties. Some could still be missing for one reason or another. Sorry you did not find the marriage. Keep looking!!!!!!!!!! 3. SURNAM IN QUESTION: John Dowling b.1852 Canada, m. Melissa Fletcher b. 1895 Lapeer Co. Mi. abt. 1875/76, I have no idea where. They both were living with there family in the 1870 in Lapeer Co.*I need to know where to find a valid marriage lic. They had three children, Gr'grandfather,John Thomas b. 1976, Nettie 1879, Catherine b. 1883. 1800 Marlett, Sanilac Co. Census. At some point Melissa Fletcher divorced John Dowling. *Where do I find divorce papers? The 1900 Lapeer Co.Goodland Twp.Mi. Census has John Dowling listed as D(divorced) Melissa married again 1898, can't find this marriage either, to Christian Heppner b. 1860.GERMANY. Their only child William was b. 1890 in Mt Forest, Bay Co. Mi. Our surname is Heppner hence my problem. *How do I find adoption paperwork for the first three children. The 1900 Mt. Forest, Bay Co. census has John Thomas Heppner b. 1876 m. father b. Canada and mother b. Mi. I did all the correct things and just rec. his death cert. and m. lic. It list his parent! s as John Heppner and Melissa Fletcher?. From 1900 thru 1930 he contends that his father was b. Canada. Here's another kicker! 1930 census Mt. Forest.Bay Co. Mi. Christian Heppner first married at 27, Melissa Heppner first married at 17. I would really like to know what my real surname was? I hope someone has some ideas? Ginni in S. Fl.

    2. You can find Wayne County free lookups at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~miwayne/waynelook.htm It wouldn't make any difference whether you lived in Michigan or not. Did you look at Ancestor or Ancestor Plus? That might make a difference. Social Security was not in existence in 1930 so the Social Security Death Index will not help you. Leota Kajdas

    3. He is in the 1920 census, it says he has a wife, but it is possible that they lived apart. The 1920 census she is in a different state, however it says she is married but her husband is also not with her, and the 1930 says she is widowed. What age would someone be to collect Social Security income? He would have been 63 in 1930. Thankyou for replying. I looked at Ancestor Plus, I couldn't get any information on any spelling of Parthan. I do not live in Michigan would that make a difference? Do you know if there is a Detroit, Wayne Michigan genealogy group that does research. I am aware that individual researchers charge much more, and I cannot do that. Thankyou for your assistance. 1. Re: [MI-Genealogy] PARTHAN/PARTHEN
    2. If you live in Michigan, you can go to any library in the state and log onto Ancestor Plus. There is no charge for this. First you go to mel.org which puts you into the State of Michigan Library site. Then log on by clicking "Log on at a library or school". This puts you into the place where you can find Ancestor Plus. Scroll down the page until you find "Genealogy". It's on the right hand side of the page. Under that, you will find Ancestor Plus. Click on that. Type in your ancestor's name and the state where you think he may have lived. You can also put in the time period in which you think he may have lived. Click on 'search' and you will be given a number of places to look for the person that you are researching. Just follow the instructions to find what you want. If your ancestor lived long enough to have collected social security, he should be listed in the Social Security Death Index. That would list the place where he lived at the time of his death. That is available on Ancestor Plus. The 1920 census should have listed his wife's name if she was still alive. Have you checked the 1910 or 1930 census? You can do that in Ancestor Plus, also. Hope this is some help to you. Leota Kajdas

    2. How might I search for the CRUMP family from Bay City, Bay County, MI. and their Marriages from your lists. I am sure that they lived their the original family was that of Samuel CRUMP and he and his wife Susan CUTTING? CRUMP had several offspring one of whom was Rousseau Owen CRUMP a man amongst the Political scene there in Bay City in the Early 1800s. I would appreciate any help you might offer even a direction you might point me in to help me in my work of creating my family Tree. Sincerely, Mary Alice CRUMP/Christiansen Torrance, CA.USA wseone56@aol.com

    1. Wolcott, Phillips, Weldon marriages
    2. Gary & Connie Benson
    3. I am looking for the marriage date and any other information of Archie Wolcott and Dorothy Verle Phillips. They lived in Emmet County as far as I know. It would have been in the early 1910's to early 1920's. And also looking for the (second) marriage date of Dorothy Verle Phillips to Firnley Hugh Weldon. This would have been in the early to mid 1920's. My father was born in 1927 in Petoskey. I am also looking for any information on a first marriage for Firnley Hugh Weldon. Not sure of the location or date but think it was in Michigan and would have had to have been before 1927 when my father was born to Firnley & Dorothy. Would anyone have any information on these marriages? Thank you in advance for any information you might have. Constance Elaine (Weldon) Benson
