    3. I did a search of ancestry.com and couldn't find a Shelley Crump with the right year or location. In 1880 there is a Shelley Crump in New York, age 34 (est birth year 1846). He was born in NY and his parents were born in England. Good luck Barb Wseone56@aol.com wrote: > Greetings: I am still working on the CRUMP family that originated in England >and later came to NY USA and then settled in Bay City, Bay, CO. 2. Hi Richard, I am a Traverse City native and was just curious. We used to live on Three Mile Road, in a house where Mitchell Creek goes under the highway. I believe there is either a gas station or a ski shop there now. My ex-in-laws owned the store on Five Mile Road, the one with the tree growing thru the roof. I graduated from TCHS with the Class of '56. Tom

    1. Old Negatives
    2. About 10 years ago I took out all the negatives from the 30's -- 40's and the 50s. Put into two piles - One pile to be printed on 5 x 7 and the other 3 x 5. These pictures especially the ones from the 40's are clearer and brighter than any photo I have taken in the last 20 years. The cost was $225.00. Not sure how many -- but quite a stack. Recently I found black and white film at Target and thought I would take some pictures to add to the family album believing that they would be ever as clear as the older ones I had done. Went three places before I returned to Target and had them developed. They came back with a pink cast to them -- and they are not to good. Its a shame -- the black and white offer a clarity that is not present with color.

    2. Patricia Ratcliff
    3. I want to jump in here. I just got my old slides from my brother and some of them have mold on them. Some where taken by my father in the early 50's when we lived in France. I had left them with my brother while I was overseas to avoid the mold damage in Germany and then his basement flooded during Hugo and I just now go around to getting them. I have a scanner that scans slides and I am eager to transfer them to an CD. My previous computer just gave up and wouldn't boot so I JUST NOW BOUGHT A NEW ONE! Donations will not be rejected (just kidding). > [Original Message] > From: <ToniMarieFLA@aol.com> > To: <MI-GENEALOGY-L@rootsweb.com> > Date: 8/28/2004 2:57:28 PM > Subject: Re: [MI-Genealogy] Old Negs - how to clean and get prints > > > > > > I'm not sure, but you might ask your local copy center. 3. Danny If you just want to see the prints and don't care too much about the quality, you can go anywhere. Most of the in and out photo places don't do true black and white processing so there will be a tint on the photos-could be blue, pink, yellow, purple or even green. If quality matters, get out the yellow pages and look for a photo lab that develops black and white photos. They can tell you what the cost per reprint will be and you can explain to them what type of cleaning you need done and get a set price. If you can't easliy find a listing for a place, call a local camera shop. They can tell you who to talk to. Call a few places to get estimates and decide from there. An alternate idea, if you or someone you know has a scanner, is to try and scan them first and see what kind of quality you end up with.
