    3. Hello again Carolyn- There are 2 local newspapers in Tuscola County-The Vassar Pioneer Times and The Tuscola County Advertiser. I don't think either one is online. You might have better luck with the obituaries at The Saginaw News-this is the only regional newspaper available in that part of Tuscola County. The Public Libraries of Saginaw lists old obit at its web site-I don't remember the web address, but I think you can get it at Google. 1. RE: [MI-Genealogy] Bay City in the 1880's
    2. Pamela Schaberg
    3. Hello Carolyn-I would recommend going to the main library [in downtown Bay City], and the County Building, whjich is also indowntown Bay City. I have the staff at both places to be very helpful. There is also a local museum there that may a good place to research. I'm not familiar with the Rose or McCulloch families, but I do have a little information on hand about Albert Miller. This is a quote from "History of Bay County, Michigan, 1883"- "The mill of this firm was originally built by the firm of Russell, Miller&Co. , in 1851. In 1863it was leased by Albert Miller , alone until the Winter of 1855. "67, when Angus Miller purchased an interest, and the firm became A. & A. Miller. They rebuilt the mill that Winter, and made it the largest one in that vicinity, having a capacity of 12,000,000 a season, and representing an investment of $50,000. They operated the mill two years, and from that time until 1879, Albert Miller was alone. In 1879, Mr. George Lewis purchased a half interest, since which time the firm has been Miller & Lewis. The season cut of the mill is about 20,000,000 feet of lumber. The firm own a large amount of standing pine. Albert Miller is is an old resident of Bay City, having come from St. Clair County, in 1855.For a time after coming here he worked in the millsand so laid the foundation of a successful business career. By 1863 he had reached a point when he considered it safe to do something on his own account, and leased a mill which he purchased the following year. Since that time he has ranked as one of the leading lumber manufacturers of this region. He is also interested in other business concerns. Mr. Miller is one of the leading members of the Fremont Avenue Methodist Episcopal Society, and from the first has been one of its liberal supporters." I noticed in another email that your diary has some information on a Bradley family in Tuscola County-I'd be interested in this as I am researching the Bradleys in Tuscola County. Hope you enjoy your time in Michigan. Pam in a suburb of Bay City.
