I am looking for information on John J. Mason, b. 17 Sept. 1856 in Zilwaukee, Saginaw County. He m. 12 Dec. 1878 in Bay City to Margaret Ella Dickie. As of 1893, they had only one child - Johnnie. In 1909, Mrs. John J. Mason was "of Windsor, Illinois" when she witnessed a marriage in Tuscola. John was a salt-well contractor and information about him appears in the 1893 History of Bay County. Does anyone have any information about him? I'd like to know his date and place of death. carolyn in rhode island
Anyone have a copy of the Eldred family tree? My dad, Clyde Bartlett redrew the tree years ago and presented it at a reunion. I have a copy but it is currently inaccessible. We are trying to ascertain the correct marriage dates for Almira A Eldred and Charles H "Henry" Bartlett who lived in Tekonsha in the 1840's and had at least two children, Minnie and Herbert. Almira's first husband was killed during the Civil War and she remarried Charles brother, John G. in 1869. I have a photo of Almira A and daughter Katie as well as daguerrotypes of Almira with both husbands. Searching for any info regarding ancestry Edwin Stanley Bartlett Sr. b. 11/24/1881, on a farm in Branch County, MI (no land record of family farm?) Have above photos and a couple of Devring, Bahr, Keep, others that married into family as well as civil war letters to and from Bartlett and Eldreds. The 1930 census of Clarkston Village in Oakland shows Charles Huntley, with wife Sylvia and children Elizabeth, Arthur, and Charles. Charles (the father) owned and operated a drug store. Would anyone be able to find Sylvia's maiden names and dates of death for both Charles and Sylvia? An obituary would be most wonderful. carolyn in rhode island

[COPIED FROM GOOGLE.COM] http://thesaltysailor.com/april.htm USS Thresher SSN-593 was built in Kittery Maine at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. (The shipyard is located on the border of New Hampshire and Maine.) She was the first of a new class, designed for optimum performance of her sonar and weapons systems. A new type of high strength steel (HY-80) was used in her construction. Thresher was capable of diving deeper and running more silently than any other submarine of her time. Her keel was laid on May 28, 1958 and she was launched on July 9, 1960. After successfully completing builder’s and acceptance trials, Thresher was commissioned as a US Naval ship on August 3, 1961. Thresher now began a series of trials and tests that are familiar to naval sailors the world over. The first evolution consisted of a shakedown cruise. This cruise is intended to find all of the small faults and irregularities that did not show up during initial testing. It is also used to familiarize the crew with the ship's handling characteristics during cruising and diving operations and to hone them into a finely tuned team. All of the submarine's systems are tested operationally during an extended cruise. Problems are found and corrected and suggestions made for improved performance. Hi. A great aunt of mine, was said to have been a madam for one of these "houses". Upstairs, she had a hall with rooms off of it. Each door had a number on it. I guess this is how she kept things straight? It may have been shown on census records as a "boarding" house. I'm sure they weren't listed as a bordello. Prohibition was rampant as were the speak easys back then. Chances are if you knew the area, some census records show the name of the street, written on the side. If it's listed as a boarding house, you might find who you're looking for. Where this neighborhood was, is now a parking lot for a college in Grand Rapids. Good luck. Teresa The birth record (might!) give the address but doubtful. Census would not show this. About the only place that you might find anything would be court and police records. Possible! The oldest profession in the world has always been illegal here in the US and therefore only police blotters and court records might have any info for you. I commend you for posting this as too many people would have always wondered and stopped their search at the point of the word bordello. I really hope you find something to continue on with. Use vitalrec to get the link for the actual sites where records are located. Instead of clicking on Vitalrec's "mail order" link under divorce records, just click on "Vital Records Requests" above the Michigan Dept of community Health address. That will take you to the website for the Michigan office itself. Then, if the form downloads there don't work for you, at least you can find other contact information to get the records. I've found their turnaround time is quite fast (mostly I've ordered death records). Carolyn At 8:48 PM -0700 9/23/04, Aaron Bond wrote: >This doesn't work for me. I don't know if this will help or not...but I just looked in a Flint phone book and there is a street named Begole Street and one named Bagley St. (Bagley sounds familiar to my memory bank of my past for some reason.) These are the only two that I find that seem even close to the names you mention. Bagley...is pronounced almost like 'beg-lee'...so could have easily been misspelled as Beg-a??? Remember just because it is a official document doesn't mean that either the person reporting the information or the person typing it...did so accurately.
