    3. Hello Barb, Thanks so much for your response and offer to obtain hard copies of documents at the library. I appreciate the information and will certainly check it out. My family has been trying to document our connection to Elizabeth Cobb for years. The internet has certainly been helpful. Elizabeth Tiny Cobb was my GG grandmother. Her father was said to be Chief Cob Moo Sa. We do have quite a bit of information and will keep searching. Thanks again for your help. They actually have the local information on line www.kpl.gov. Search the catalog and choose the local history collection. If you find something that is in their newspapers etc I can go down to the library and get the info from the hard copy for you. 3. hello listers, there are at least 6 msgs. on the MI-Genealogy list with the subject: Ancestry.com. The messages have nothing to do with Ancestry.com. I didn't know that until I opened them. Please, for people like me, with limited time, please make the subject line with the topic you are discussing. So I am hoping someone could look for me. There is a posting there for a Marie Rose Plouff and I would like to find out if this is my Rose Marie or not. 3. THANKS! I will check out the links you sent. I did request a marriage certifcate from Branch County and was quite pleased with their service. In the past, I've had trouble with a lot of dead end links from GenWeb - hopefully that has changed recently. I hope the links you sent will help me find additional records for the Willets and Waterhouse line. Sorry - I don't have any info for your people. 3. I would like to thank everyone for trying to help me find my missing relative. The info that I have is that when the family moved to Michigan from Canada, they settled in Mecosta County near Morton Township. My GGGrandmother is buried in a cemetery in Morton Township, I did find that one. Just can't find his. The year of his death has been stated by a few people - I don't know where they got the information. They don't know where he is buried either - but then - they still live in Canada. I am trying to contact another relative that lives by Pellston. Perhaps she has more information about him. Will keep you all posted. Again ----- a million thanks. Rosalyn

    3. Images of these draft registration cards are on ancestry.com. Search for your ancestor and the card will be under military records. Sometimes the writing is difficult to read. There is no space on the card to designate the name of a spouse; however, there is a space for next of kin The cards also tell a person's body build, hair and eye color.. It will not give the wife's maiden name. All men between certain ages (can't remember the lower limit but 46 was the upper limit), even those who were not citizens, were required to register. carolyn in rhode island Andrea Hadley wrote: >FOR RECORDS FROM WWI AND WWII YOU HAVE TO WRITE TO: >NATIONAL PERSONNEL RECORDS CENTER >MILITARY PERSONNEL RECORDS >9700 PAGE AVENUE >ST. 1. Re: [MI-Genealogy] REGISTRATION CARDS FOR WW1
    2. To the group: For the state of Delaware, and I would expect many other states, the original signed WW1 registration cards reside at NARA. In my case I went to NARA in Atlanta and request to see them. They brought out 9 boxes of the original cards, all of the S's for the state of Delaware. Both of my grandfathers, Sutor and Stockman were in the boxes. Two Sutor uncles were in there as well.. I copied (Xeroxed) all the cards, front and back. My grandfather Stockman was a surprise, I never knew his name (Sheldon Gridley Stockman b. 26 Jan 1885) and no one in the living family knew he was born in Michigan, everyone believed he was born in Virginia. That single incident got me started in genealogy. I believe I was told by NARA that cards from various states were distributed in several NARA's. Why Delaware cards would be in Atlanta and not in Philadelphia is a mystery. There is a lot of good information on the original cards that doesn't seem to be available online. Check your nearest NARA to see where your States cards are stored. The is a certain thrill to handling a document filled out and signed by a relative from another era. Bob Stockman Woodstock GA.
