I'm looking at some census information and am having trouble deciphering some elegant handwriting. The occupation listed on the 1870 census, appears to be "Huckster" - I doubt that today's definition would apply. Has anyone seen this "Huckster" listed as a trade or profession in that era? Thanks, Julie I'm always needing info on the Willets line in Michigan. Especially any info on Sarah E. Waterhouse (Willets) b. 1844 - Death record - Birth record or anything at all :) Benjamin Willets b. 1809 William H. Willets b. 1839 (spouse of Sarah E. Waterhouse) Daniel W. Willets b. 1869 Stephen T. Willets b. 1879 Robert Willets b. 1882 Mostly Ionia, Cheboygan & Branch County. Dear Dora, There is a Keith Metty listed on my Ancestry.com. It says that he was born about 1920 in St Joseph Mich. I imagine that he is still living as they did not mention his death. Hope that helps. Her name was Lydia Metty (Tonelli) and she was involved in an accident with a Speedway 79 in Salen MI in 1953, about June or July, I believe. She lived in either Saline or Ypsilanti. Her husband's name was Keith and she had her five children with her when she was killed. They were not injured too badly. I'm trying to find out what her middle name was. If you could help, I'd be very appreciative. Thank you for your interest.
If you have a name, date and town I might be able to help. I'm going to the State of Mich Library tomorrow, they have old Michigan newspapers on microfilm and with that info I'll see what I can find. Let me know. Pat

If you could give us more information, perhaps we could direct you. Do you know in what city or county the accident happened or your folks lived, for example? Can you give us their names? Can you supply a more specific date than "early 1900s"? There are many resources out there to check, but it would be a waste of time to tell you about Detroit's resources in the 1910s if these events happened in Houghton in the 1940s, for example. I'm sure someone here could help you, however, you need to supply more information such as who you are, sisters name and birthdates, where in Michigan she died, who the "folks" are by name, birthdates and when they arrived and from where specifically.
