Angela Wilds, Our genealogy society could obtain a copy of the obit for you, but they have a $3.00 charge for this service. There are about 13 cemeteries in Grand Traverse County. The name of the cemetery is usually mentioned in the obit. If you would like additional research done by the society, suggest I would suggest that you purchase a membership for $10.00. 1 hour of research and 4 issues of their newsletter are included with the membership. While searching your site I found some of my relatives. The spellings are different but I'm sure its my family. We spell them Scheele and Schrah. Please feel free to use me as a contact if anyone is interested. Since Schrah was not listed first it was tricky to find them, is there a way to search other than looking at each record? Also is there a way to search throughout the state without knowing the county? Thanks for the service you provide!! Someone please help me..I am searching for info on a Louis St. John in Mi during the early and mid 1950's... I am told he worked on the train tracks in Michigan...I believe this to be in the areas of Detroit and the smaller surrounding areas...I am told he also used the name Joseph Darling and lived in Chicago and also Raymond St. John. I would appreciate ANY help that could help me with Railroad companies in that area and police reports as I heard he had been shot at least 3 times. This is a rather long story and if anyone has any info I would be glad to share it with you..This also may include the name Rightler in that area. Thanks, for any help anyone can give me. I am from NC and it is hard to get info in that are.
My Grandparents lived and died in Petosky but I don't know for sure where they are buried. Can you check for Clarence and Ruby Stanley? I think they both died in the 1980's. Hi Bonnie- I forwarded your message to my sister, who just happens to be married to a member of the Viele family of Turner, Michigan! She's been working on the Viele family tree for a couple of years. You'll probably hear from her in a day or two. Wayne is the county, one of the cities is Detroit.
The city of Wayne, Wayne County, Michigan is located immediately west of Dearborn. Google Wayne, Michigan, click Images, and the first image shows a map. Or, one can use Google's map site http://google.com/ and this will actually show street names. Wayne county is in Detroit. there are some things of interest on Migenweb.com
Frank, You may want to try this web site: Michican Township Association. http://www.michigantownships.org/home.htm Click on the Township Map on the home page, the first block on the next page...look down to "Search for Township or County"...click on that link and you should be able to search. It's a bit "quirky" to use but it actually pops up with the name of the county and contact information for that county or other info depending on what name you click on. I have been looking all over the internet for a Michigan Website that shows Michigan County Maps, listing the Townships for a given county, and the cities, towns and villages in that township. No luck.. You'd think that Michigan.gov (The State Website) would link to such basic information... Of specific interest is: in what Township is Wayne, Michigan located? I want to search the 1920 Census for Wayne, MI., and Genealogy.com US Census doesn't have a search function for 1920.. so I have to browse each township. Thanks Frank Rowell Tucson, AZ
