Thanks for the info. My dad was never adopted. He left the orphanage around 16 years old. He hopped the box cars and went traveling. That orphanage burned down I'm told. I found the Michigan agency that handles these things. According to them, an adult adopted child can request the information regarding their adoption. Since your father is deceased, there is a possibility that you can request the information in his place. Here is the website; http://www.michigan.gov/fia/1,1607,7-124-5452_7116_7125-14884--,00.html Copy and paste this address into your browser. Hi, Thanks so much for this info. I just took a stab in the dark. I can't believe there is still info out there. I would be thrilled to find out anything. Thank you. We have both in Greene Co. Ohio. I can't figure out how someone would have the cash to have a book, printed and bound professionally for just a family but they did. And that was before Kinkos! We must have two hundred bound books and then lots of file folders. I have only been doing genealogy for a few years now and have not found any of my family in the books. And they are indexed in a file system! Someone in the past really cared in Greene Co. OH. But I will be putting file folders as I must do several libraries for each family. Linda Swaney Sabin in OHIO

Linda, According to the 1920 Census for Branch County, Coldwater Twp. There is a Loren living at the State Public School for Dependant Children and he was listed as 7 10/12 which according to the date of the census being January of 1920, which according to my calculations, would have made him born March of 1912. It is listed that he was born in Michigan and that his parents were born in the US Sharon Gill Vanden Bossche Homepage: _http://www.geocities.com/sharonv45/index.html_ (http://www.geocities.com/sharonv45/index.html) E-mail: SharonV45@aol.com Visit my Memorial to Family Veterans at: _http://www.freewebs.com/sharonv45/index.htm_ (http://www.freewebs.com/sharonv45/index.htm) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Why is Leonard Peltier still in prison...??? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ _http://www.freepeltier.org_ (http://www.freepeltier.org/)

Linda--- So far just a quick look on the 1930 census for Coldwater Township, Michigan, there is a Loren Ford listed there as an inmate of Michigan Public Schools. He is listed as 15 - male - white - born in Michigan but the birthplace of both parents is listed as unknown. I'm sure everyone will keep looking. Good Luck!! It's never too late--- Sharman
Thank you. That is a great help. do you have his approximate date of birth? how old does he think he was when he went to the orphanage and about what year was it? I will try to do some searching on the computer or my local library which has a great genealogy department. I need at least some approximate dates, not necessarily month and day, just "year". Good luck!
