    3. Hi Kevin, I found the following in the Michigan directory..........not sure if this is your Washington Warner or not. In 1870 I found George Warner living in Saginaw as a shoemaker but no record of Washington or Mary. 2. I saw postings for the Genesee County Poorhouse. Coincidentally, I found records that stated my great-great-grandfather Washington J. WARNER, was listed in various records as "Overseer of the poor." I don't know where the poor farm was in the 1840-1860s or what happened to him afterward, but if anyone knows anything about it I'd be very interested in hearing about it. Thank you! 1. Re: [MI-Genealogy] WARNER RESEARCH AT FLUSHING TOWNSHIP to ZILWAUKEE TOWNSHIP...
    2. Hi Kevin. W.W. Warner, was born in 1824, in Potter County, PA. His father was William Warner and lived with his family at Cortland County, New York. The family, before that came from Connecticut. About 1852, W. W. and family came to Michigan, settling in HAZELTON COUNTY, MICHIGAN, adjacent to Saginaw and Genesee Counties of Michigan. W.W. lived in Flushing for a period of time and was responsible for helping to develop a trail through the wilderness south into Hazelton Township, Shiawassee County, Michigan. He built a shanty on land he purchased there, traveling back and forth to Flushing, where his wife had remained for a period of time until his temporary home was built. He was a good farmer. My gt gt grandfather, CYRUS BRIGHAM, worked for him for a time as a farm laborer. The families were close. There were several WARNER FAMILIES that lived in GENESEE, SAGINAW AND SHIAWASSEE COUNTY during that period. I found W.W. Warner in Section 34, Hazelton Township of an 1859 map owning about 160 acres, which he cleared and eventually was able to farm. His wife's name was Susan and she was from Steuben County, N.Y. I do not know if they were relatives of your WARNERS but hopefully the above is enough for you to establish that contact. Also, I see you are researching the name RAWCLIFFE. My Rawcliffe family came from Lancashire, England, where they lived for at least 200 years before beginning the migration to the United States in the early to mid 1800s. Sound like it could be a part of your RAWCLIFFE FAMILY? I do know that some of the family settled in ONTARIO, CANADA, along with another family of mine, THE GREGSON FAMILY, also from Lancashire. Good Luck Kevin in your quest for your roots, Sincerely, Robert T. Smith usersm8681@aol.com

    1. WARNER RESEARCH AT FLUSHING TOWNSHIP to ZILWAUKEE TOWNSHIP...
    2. I am hoping to connect with anyone else doing research on the surname WARNER in the Flushing Township village in Genesee County between 1840 and 1860. There is a Hannah Warner and a few others in that village during that time period but I cannot find the nexus between them and ours. Around 1860 they went to Zilwaukee where Washington J. Warner homesteaded most of the township. Does anyone think it is very likely that there could have been two different Warner families there, both from New York, during that time? I'll gladly share any information I have if anyone is interested. Sincerely, Kevin O'Brien Laguna Hills, CA Researching: New York: Jefferson County: Dorchester, Perkins, Van Schaick, Truax Michigan: Saginaw County, MI: (Hemlock-Richland Township) Perkins, (Jonesfield Township-Merrill) Warner, Gauley, Shannon, Genesee County, MI: (Flushing Township) Warner, Sundell Gratoit County, MI: (Wheeler) Ault, Gauley, Gillie, Pinkerton, Shannon Washtenaw County: Ault and descendants Quebec, Canada: Argentiul County, Quebec, Canada; Arundel, Grenville, LaChute, Rawcliffe: Lowe, Shannon, Gauley, Gillie, Ivall, DeRiviere, Boyd, Stapleton. 3. Just went to the site: www.infomi.com/city/ to see what it had to say about my hometown, Davison. The info that is there is almost entirely NOT about Davison, but just a listing of commercial links to some other web sites. The little info actually about Davison that is on the site is about 50% wrong. The pictures are of Davison, but most of the links for Davison are not links to Davison sites, but links to commercial sites, most of which are not even in the state of Michigan. Based on this one visit to just one city listed, I would say that my opinion, the www.infomi.com/city is a waste of time for anything more than a few pictures, the general location within the county, and the phone number of the city office. 3. I'd look at land records. Look at the land grants listing at the BLM site. http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/ click on "search land patents" Also at local land transactions if you figure out which county. And I would look at the late 1800's biography books that some of the counties have - since 1830 was very early these books might mention your ancestor as an original settler. 3. I have some Smiths in my line living in Emmet Co. and St. Clair Co. You might check there. Subject: [MI-Genealogy] William Harold Parker and Catherine Melissa Smith My grandparents on my father's side were William Harold Parker and Catherine Melissa Smith. They are deceased, as are my parents, and I'm having a very difficult time finding info on their births, marriage, parents, etc. They appear on the 1930 U.S. Census in Otisville, MI showing my father as a son. I cannot identify either as a child in a family in the earlier censuses (1900, 1910, 1920). I believe Catherine had brothers named Dan and Carl.Smith and the Smith family had a farm in the Otisville vicinity. William worked for years as a salesman for U.S. Steel. I don't remember their dates of death except I think my grandfather died in the 1950s and my grandmother in the 1960s. In the years I knew them (40s, 50s, and 60s), they lived in East Tawas, MI. I cannot find Catherine in the U.S. Social Security Death Index and, though there are many William Parkers in the index, I cannot find any with enough info to made a positive identity. Any help would be appreciated. William H. Parker

    3. If you go to the genweb page for Wexford county Michigan, you will find a link to an index for the 1830 Michigan territory census. It might help you. I don't think that Jackson or Calhoun were counties then. Once you get to the census index, if you click on the notes link, it has a link to a map of Mighigan territory in 1830. You should be able to use it to find the appropriate area to search the index. My gg grandfather, Minor KELLOGG, son of Jonathan KELLOGG, and Harriett PORTER, was born in Wentworth, Ontario, Canada, in 1810. The only record I have found of this birth is in a family Bible. (A Joel KELLOGG was recorded as a witness). Jonathan and family were in Mina, Chautauqua Co., NY, for the 1825 and 1830 census, and when their son Walter was born in March, 1831. He is found in the 1840 Livingston Co.Michigan Fed Census, and the 1850 Hillsdale Co Fed Census, where Jonathan's birthplace is given as CT. A possible father of Jonathan KELLOGG is Thomas KELLOGG, b.1 Aug 1743, Canaan, CT, s.of Eliasaph KELLOGG and Rachel BENEDICT (#203,page 81, Hopkins, "The Kelloggs in the Old World and the New.") He and his wife were members of "Ye Church at Philippi," (Southeast, NY) at the time of the baptism of their sons Jonathan, Thomas, (who died) and Thomas. He is not listed in the 1790 CT Federal Census. A Thomas Kellogg is listed in Caughnawaga Town, Montgomery County,NY, 1790 census, with one male over sixteen, two males under sixteen, and one female. The 1800 census of Herkimer Co., NY, lists Thomas Kellogg. 45+ yrs.,one male 10-16, one female 25-45, and one female 45+. 3. HI James Hendershot. When someone joins a mailing list, they then start receiving all the messages that are sent into the list, some will apply to the names you are researching and others won't. You need to look at the subject line or read a little of a message to see if they are of interest to you. Some will give you pointers as to other sites that may help you even if they aren't researching the same names. Hope this helps. -------Original Message------- From: MI-GENEALOGY-L@rootsweb.com Date: 03/24/05 18:08:55 To: MI-GENEALOGY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MI-Genealogy] Wheelock of Lapeer and Oakland Counties hi- i have only been doing the "genealogy" thing for a couple of weeks, but have had some significant success. i am a little puzzled as to how you got my e-mail address, however, that is ok. i have been working on the hendershot" line/surname; is your family somehow connected to the hendershots? i would be happy to help you in any way that i can, offering my opinion, etc. looking forward to hearing from you. i am from the grand rapids, michigan area. regards, jim hendershot 616-785-3471 "Eldridge, Jerri R." <EldridgeJ@missouri.edu> wrote: Looking for Granville Wheelock and wife Lydia Wells. 3. Hello Jack Dibean, I visited your Lake county marriage page and found some people I was looking for. On that page you asked that people contact you if they were related to someone there but when I clicked on the link it said it was no longer a valid address. How do we contact you now? Thanks , Angela -------Original Message------- From: MI-GENEALOGY-L@rootsweb.com Date: 03/24/05 19:57:57 To: MI-GENEALOGY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MI-Genealogy] Wheelock of Lapeer and Oakland Counties We maintain the Michigan Marriage Index Database that has the following: GRANDVILL - WHEELOCK m LIDY - WELLS in OAKLAND cnty 04 NOV 1839 --- CTY REC VOL 3 OLIVE C WHEELOCK m JAMES F ELDRIDGE in GENESEE cnty 22 OCT 1873 MILTON G WHEELOCK m VILETTA - MILLAGE in GENESEE cnty 25 APR 1885 We did not find any of the other family members listed.
