Just wanted to let you know there's also someone researching a Laskowski family on the Brooklyn, NY list, don't know if it's any relation to your Laskowski, but thought you might want to check it out. I'm going to the library today and will see if I can find anything on your Michigan Laskowski family. Nancy Michigan
Hi Mary, The Ellis Island passenger lists have over 300 names of LASKOWSKI. There were about 5 JOHN's and a few names that could ultimately be FRANCES, but spelled the German way. Hope this helps. Concerning descendants of Johan Petter Isaksson Alanenpaa Kentaa and Brita Adamsdotter Caisadotter Blomster. Johan Petter Kentaa was born in Finland in 1818. In his youth he moved to Northern Norway where he married Brita Blomster also of Finland. They had the following children: 1. Britta Marie, born in 1842 2. Johan Petter, born in 1845 3. Isach Wilhelm, born and died in 1847 4. Erik Ullrik, born in 1848 5. Salamon, born in 1850 6. Isak, born in 1852 7. Fredrik, born in 1855 8. Carl, born in 1857 9. Mickel, born in 1858 10. Fredrik, born in 1861 In the 1875 census for Norway, the last name has been changed from Kentaa to Gentha. In 1880, Johan Petter (the father) emigrated to Houghton, Michigan together with his sons Salamon and Isak, and Isak’s wife Gunhild. Their last name is listed as Genta or Gentha. In 1881 Mickel and Brita (the mother) emigrates to Hancock, Michigan. Brita is said to be a widow. Their last name is listed as Kenta or Kentta. Mickel later returns to Norway and is again listed as emigrating in 1886, this time the destination is Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mickel is later found as Mike Gintor in the 1910 census for Allouez Township in Keweenaw, Michigan. He is listed without any family. This is the last trace we have found of this family in the US. If anybody has any information concerning anyone in this family, I would be delighted to hear from you. Torhild Shirley
I believe that the Joseph Brown you are looking for may be in my family line. A Joseph R. Brown married Mary Jane Barton on 15 May, 1858 in Big Prairie Twp, Newaygo Co., MI. Mary Jane was the daughter of Robert Barton and Polly Harrington. Both Mary Jane and Joseph Brown are buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Muskegon, MI and there is a fairly large monument on their grave site. I have pictures of the grave and monument as Muskegon was my home town. It will take me a little while to locate the pictures, but I will make an effort if you want to contact me. Joyce Bellows
Orrin P Austin was of St Joseph County died and was buried in Burr Oak, however I can't find the right cemetery. His son Ephrahaim died of disease near Nashville in the Civil War. He was I believe an uncle of the Orrin Patchen Austin of Kendall County Illinois. Is there anyone researching O P Austin of St. Joseph Co. MI?
When I go back down there I can check the Death index for her. And see what I can find. Nancy Michigan
Here is a web site that explains all about the old telephone exchanges and even allows you to search their database to find out what a given exchange meant. http://ourwebhome.com/TENP/TENproject.html Plugging in TW for Detroit we get TWinbrook, so one could conceivable pick up a phone, get the operator, and ask her to dial TWinbrook 1 - 2400 or today we would dial 891-2400. The "TW" was the exchange and the 1-2400 was the number. In the "olden days" the larger cities had "exchanges" that preceded the digital number. Example would be" Hudson 32700 " My oh my, haven't we come a long way with direct dial - dropping the "name prefix" and going to seven numbers instead. Thanks for the obits on Clara and Nicky Brzezinski. Nicky had a sister who died, too, Barbara, but I don't have a date. She died from the same thing as him and I think she was only 10 years old. She is not mentioned in his obituary, so it must have been before him....thanks again! I got a lot from those obits. Elise in WA

I have a little more info if anyone is able to help. He was born in 1939, Flint MI, died at the age of 7 in the city of Flint, so probably 1946. He is buried at Flint Memorial Cemetery located on Dort Hwy and Dodge Rd near Clio MI. Anyone know if that cemetery info is on line? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
