Hallvard, When searching for hard to find relatives I have used online www.Intelius.com , www.peopledata.com and www.peoplefinder.com . You will have to pay for the use of the service but they have an inexpensive 24 hour pass you can get for less than $20.00 on any of the three. I had the best luck with Intelius and Peopledata. They use public records to track folks and even if she's in a residence home she may have left a paper trail. Since you have the former address you can also try searching for relatives under that same surname as it will list former addresses for everyone who does or used to live there. Many times you'll even get lucky to find an unlisted telephone number in the records. On Peopledata you can buy a "complete" background which is fairly in-depth for several dollars more. I located a missing family member who had not been heard from since the 1950s living quietly retired in Florida after living her entire life in Wisconsin. Good luck with your search! I am a Norwegian searching for "lost" relatives in the USA: My grandaunt Oleanne Bergitte Bruland (b. 26 May 1878 i Norway, dead before Nov 1966) and her daughter Mrs. Margaret Webb (probably married name), born in the USA abt 1920. By the help of nice people in the USA and Canada I recently received the address of Mrs. Margaret Webb in Nov 1966. The address was 9251 Yosemite Avenue/Street, Detroit, Michigan. (Her uncle, my granduncle Bendik Bruland, born 25 Oct 1879 in Norway, passed away 16 Nov 1966 in Minneapolis. Margarets address came from Bendik's funeral home in Minneapolis). Margaret's address in 1966 is my only fixed reference point. If she is still living, she is now around 85 years old and possibly living at a nursing home in Detroit. If she has passed away, I hope that there is an obituary (I was looking to search for obituaries, but it seems difficult without knowing which county). She may well have moved from Detroit and even Michigan after 1966, but I believe it is sensible to check out the option that she continued to live at the same address/city/state. Hi Nancy, next time you go to the library can you check the death index for a Thomas G Long he died after 1880 ? On 1880 census he was 56. one of his daughters was Nellie(16) He was married (about 1864) to Caroline Farr Ratcliffe. He was born about 1820/24, probably in England. What I am looking for is who were his parents, who were her parents??? Can you help???
