There is a Muskegon Michigan on the western coast of Michigan. I also know there were some Warner's there too. I don't know anything about them but I know that my great grandmother was married to a James Warner and they lived in Muskegon area. All three names are familiar to me. I live in Western Michigan and the surrounding counties do have these surnames. beth ----- Original Message ----- From: <KevinOBrien8527@aol.com> To: <MI-GENEALOGY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 13, 2005 12:27 AM Subject: [MI-Genealogy] ANYONE A CLEARINGHOUSE FOR EARLY MICHIGAN TERRITORY INFO? > I'm hoping there me be someone on this list who is familiar with the > territorial information for western Michigan in the 1820s. I am trying to cross a brick wall in the other direction. Orin (Oren, Orrin ) Patchen Austin was most likely my Gr Grandfathers brother, he lived and died in St Joseph Co. MI. He had at least one son Ephraim W Austin who enlisted in 11th MI Infantry and is buried in National Cemetery in Nashville Tenn. I am of the belief there was a widow and other heirs but can't seem to locate them.
Try using your restore feature to restore to earlier time (XP) this should correct changes you made. Microsoft has installed on all your PC computers a perfect program for individuals with poor eye sight. Click on "Start", "Control Panel". Now double click on the Handicap Icon, "Accessibility Display", and choose the "Display" menu tab. Now pick "High Contrast" and click on "settings" and pick the type of high contrast color and size you want. Click "OK" and you are on your way to an easy to read computer. If you are unable to do this yourself, please have a grandchild come and help you. They would love to. Al
I'm hoping there me be someone on this list who is familiar with the territorial information for western Michigan in the 1820s. I have several letters dated between 1820 and 1840 being sent to the surname WHITE, WARNER and STEGER. The address is shown as "MUSKEGON TERRITORY, WISCONSIN," but I have been told that was actually western MICHIGAN. The return addresses are shown as ANTWERP, and they do not have actual stamps on them. As I understand these grants, they were issued in the state of territory where the land was located. Land grants were given to veterans of the war of 1812, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were also given to Revolutionary war veterans. The grants were given in an effort to settle the new lands in the Northwest Territory, and many were given in the 1820s. That might be to late for a lot of Revolutionary war vets, but there could have been earlier grants. I have no idea where to research these grants, but I'd start with the Bureau of Land Management web site and go from there. www.glorecords.blm.gov/ Public land info can be found at this BLM site. www.glorecords.glm.gov/Visitors/PublicLands.asp Good luck, Dan

Hello people I posted this a while back, but will try again. I'm looking for a John Van Der Molen (spell it all ways) who originally was from Michigan. He was born l923-24 and served in the Navy during WW II. Late in 1944 or early in 1945 he was briefly stationed in Bremerton or more likely Seattle, WA before going to the Pacific Theatre. My assumption is that he returned to MI after the war. I've never worked with WW II service records. Are they worth the time and money? The 1930 census on Ancestry shows to John Vander Molens that are the right age. So far I've been unable to learn anything more about either of them. I believe that one lived in Missawaukie (sp?) County, and am uncertain about the other. A Robert Vander Molen was teaching at Comstock Park High School in Comstock Park during the early 1950's. Could this be a brother? Jim

G'day I am trying to research my grandfathers side of the family. His brother Thomas Garland Love emmigrated to America from Scotland some time between the two world wars. I suspect in the early 1930's. He settled in the Detroit area and worked as an insurance salesman. He married but I don't know his wifes name only that she may have been a Scottish girl. They had two children that I know of a daughter named Beverley and a son called Jackie. The sons real name may have been John or Jack. I know that they kept in touch with my grandparents but when my grandmother died we lost contact. Some family members think they may have lived in the Oakland area. I did trace the death of a Thomas G Love to Farmington Oaklands and he did have the correct birth date (9 Dec 1903). Whether this is him or not remains to be seen. Thomas would probably be dead by now but his children may still be alive. I believe that Beverley was born circa 1942. If anyone has any ideas as to how I could trace this family I would love to hear from you. Regards John Waite Melbourne Australia
