Don't know if Katie got married. Don't know if there is a family tree in archives of Michigan. I too am at a road block with this family. I live in Columbus Ohio. But if you find out anything, please let me know. I have found the Clines in several places in Michigan. Where is Lansing vs Schoolcraft County. ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
tompat454 There are two great databases that I would point you toward. The first one is Dibean's Michigan Marriage Index which has literally thousands of marriages documented and sorted by county. In the case of your surname Downs appearing in St. Clair County there are two entries; an Eliza and a Mary Downs in the proper time frame. Take a peek at this county and surrounding counties, Huron, Tuscola, Genesee, Oakland, Saginaw, Bay and see if you see any that help. The URL is _http://www.mifamilyhistory.org/dibeanindex/_ (http://www.mifamilyhistory.org/dibeanindex/) The second good database is the Michigan Gendix (Genealogical Death Index) which also lists deaths, by name and county from 1867 to about 1885; depending on county records. Again, I note that there are several Downs documented there in St. Clair County, but those in nearby counties may be related. The URL for this one is _http://www.deathindexes.com/michigan/index.html_ (http://www.deathindexes.com/michigan/index.html) Good luck, I hope this helps you solve your mysteries. I've been trying to solve of of my family mysteries at long range. I live in PA now and made no progress on my last trip to Michigan. Here it is. Great Grand Parents James Downs and wife Mary Murtagh arrived in St Clair County about 1848 with 2 children Thomas and Mary. Infant Mary apparently died shortly after arrival. My grandfather Michael Downs was born in Emmett in 1860. A visit to the Catholic Church there and a look thru the parish records turned up an item dated 11/11/1869 where Thomas Downs and Marion Downey were married there in Emmett. Another document proved this was my great uncle, and a niece who lives in Detroit found a copy of the wedding license in the County records in Port Huron. The 1870 Census lists Thomas back living on the family farm in March 1870. Wife Marion was not listed and I couldn't find any other record on her any where. Thomas died in Toledo, Ohio in 1876 and is buried in the family plot there in Emmett. But what happened to Marion?
This is the closest I have been so far and I don't want to get my hopes up. Do I just look up Katie Cline or did she get married and how do I find out? Is there a Cline Family Tree in the Archives of the Michigan State Library? Also, was she in the Lansing area or from there abouts? [email protected] wrote: 1900 census shows last child Cecelia Cline b: about April 1896 But her sister Katie was born in 1886 July that would make her old enough to have a child in 1904 or 1905 There were also 4 other children born before 1884, don't know names or sex of these four children. ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com ***************************** The theme of this list is Michigan genealogy and research. from this info...what i have done before looking for family and classmates.. because of my life...when I came to a dead end...i then went to the div records.and found they had div...but still couldn't find her anywhere...well again because of me...i then went into marriage records again and found she had remarried...and then was able to see the marriage record as to who was involved...looked up the name of her maid of honor to find a number and was able to call...she thengave me the bad news of her passing.. my grandparents lived, married, had kids, and lived up north..and i knew they had div., but couldn't find any info...then because my grandmother had remarried...i decided to try that county and there was the div record....they had moved and then div.... So give that way a try and see what you can find.. i'm havng problems right now trying to find when my grt grndma died...I have her last on a 1920 census..Oh, that just hit me..don' remeber if i did or not.. I need to check the 1930 census in another county as well as i thought of checking marriage after the 1920 census..as she was a servant in a home with only a man listed... hope this helps you and thanks for scrambling my brain... Do you know if any of your "Grandfather Cline's younger siblings were males born in 1904 or 1905 in or around Lansing, Michigan? [email protected] wrote: Could be!!!! Grandfather Edward Michael Cline, Cecelia's brother never talked about his family and always said he was orphaned. Does anyone have knowledge of my grandfather, George Washington Long, born 30 March 1851; we believe in Toronto, Canada. Immigrated to Michigan, USA in 1869. His father, we believe, was also named George, born in England. I am interested in this George's lineage back to England. George Washington Long's mother was named Agnes Armet or possibly Annet, born in Canada. I am interested in any data on her ancestral background, also. George Washington Long and his spouse, Lydia F Parks were married 30 March 1884 in Saginaw, Saginaw Co, MI. Of their six issue, I am particularly interested in what happened to three of their daughters… Margaret Maude, Jennie Agnes, Bertha D and Elizabeth, aka Lizzie.
Sorry. I am unsure as I am looking for my grandfather's natural birth family. Do you know of anyone who gave up a baby boy in 1905 or 1904 to a church?
