    1. Re: [MI-GENEALOGY] SURNAME INTERESTS FOR WAYNE AND OAKLAND COUNTIES
    2. JOHN LONG
    3. To Lance Mitchell…This is just a shot in the dark…but…… I'm interested in…what I think are…two different branches of my family tree coming under the Mitchell name. Or there may be a connection. That's what I am trying to find out…and you may know. Do you know of a James Mitchell, b. 16 Oct 1920 in Herman Keifer Hosp, Flint, Genesee Co, MI. In 1922 his family, which I have been told was very large, moved to Detroit, Wayne Co, MI…where his father died in 1929 of Cancer. I find no record of this large family in Detroit in the 1930 census…which seems strange to me. James, I am told, married a girl from Boston, MA about 1950 and "had a couple of kids." James had about 12 siblings. James may have d. in Dec 1967. Also, a Harry Augustus Mitchell, b. 13 May 1884 in Reeder Twp, Missaukee Co, MI married my aunt, Margaret Maude Long in circa 1900/02. He d. Nov 1970 in Brooklyn, Jackson Co, MI. I've been told they "lived most there lives" in the Flint area. I am supposed to have a lot of 1st cousins. Would like to find out who they are before I become an ancestor. Do either of these ancestors fall within your realm of genealogy?

    1. Re: [MI-GENEALOGY] Eli Clarke/Clark Jonas Clark/Clarke
    2. JOHN LONG
    3. Don't know much about cousins Eli Clark and his bride, Millicent Bottomley…but brother Jonas and Martha fled England and joined us early on. Jonas was b. 1845 in England; imm to USA…Valley Twp, Allegan Co. MI… in 1865 and became…guess what…yes, a farmer. Now Martha Bottomley was already over here…waiting for him. It appears she had escaped back in 1852…one year after she was born. I think she talked her parents into fleeing the country with her. Anyway it looks like she talked Jonas into marrying her in 1869 and William was b. in 1870. Two yrs later, little Eli was born. Named after his uncle, don't you know, don't you see. Two more yrs…after a slight respit…we have Millie or Milley…I believe it was really Millicent…named after her aunt, don't you know, don't you see. People use to do that sort of thing back in those days. David arrived three yrs later. I'll send you more of the story in a couple days!

    3. My gr. gr. grandfather was Sam Thomas (Maw-caw-day-pe-nay-se) Durant Roll # 9-24. He was father to Joseph Thomas, and Margaret (Thomas) Joe. My great grandfather, Joe Thomas was married or partnered with Lucy Keshata, daughter of Louis Keshata (Durant Roll # 35-46) and Madeline Kewaydin (Durant Roll # 25-46 or 20-46). They had possibly three children. My grandfather Ray (aka. Rennie) Thomas, Mary Ann Thomas (Alexander) (Jacko), and May (Thomas) Paul. Great Aunt Margaret married William Joe (Dag-wa-sung). From that union Hazen, Josie, Theresa, Leana and Albert were born. I have been looking for living descendents of the Joe family for many years but can find no one. CJ

    1. [MI-GENEALOGY] LONG Family Tree
    2. JOHN LONG
    3. There are a lotta LONG's. None of these LONG's are related to me; since, I'm "the only son, of an only son." However, I'm looking for any offsprings from three of my grandfather's five daughters. (1) Margaret Maude Long, b. 20 Mar 1896 in MI. By "family gossip" Maggie married Harry A Mitchell, had 4 sons and 1 daughter, lived most her life in Flint, Gensee Co, MI and d. 6 Mar 1965 in West Covina, Los Angeles Co, CA. (2) Bertha D Long, b. 31 Jul 1891 in Highland Twp, Oaceola Co, MI. Again, "family gossip" says Bertie married Zeotes Milligan, had 13 children…may have moved to IL or CA. (3) Elizabeth Long…she is supposed to have gone by the name of "Lizzie" all her life…married a Jones and had 2 daughters; Ruth and Ruby. Ruby is said to have moved to Toledo, OH. Lizzie married a 2nd husband, a Warner, moved to Los Angeles, CA. She and Warner had 2 sons, Bobbie and Clare; and 2 daughters, Faye and June. My grandfather was George Washington Long, b. 30 Mar 1851 in Canada (we believe Toronto). Imm to Saginaw, MI, USA in 1869…married my grandmother, Lydia Fluellen Parks on 30 Mar 1884 in Saginaw, MI. Are there any out there related to me through my 3 aunts????????? John Emmett Long, Jr
