There is a barn on Flint St. in Frankenmuth. It was built by my Dehmel ancestors, and later sold to the George J. and Regina Riess Family. We are unsure of exactly when the barn was built, and which of my ancestors built it. Land Records show Heinrich Dehmel bought the property in 1856. Yet his son John Dehmel sold it to the Riess family. My family and I are curious to know more history about the barn. I am wondering if there may be old newspaper articles, about the barn raising etc. It is our belief that Heinrich built the part of the barn, and John later moved the barn, and added onto it. Any help would be appreciated. Michele **************************************See AOL's top rated recipes (http://food.aol.com/top-rated-recipes?NCID=aoltop00030000000004)

I would like to have information on the wedding of Henry Rogers and Alice Knapp married on September 12, 1887. The groom was from Berlin Ionia and the bride from Orange Ionia, Michiagan. The minister was Oramil E Wightman and witnesses were BW Custer and Laura A Custer. Thanks! Joyce Hunt, Ohio --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage.
Ottawa County is where Nunica is and that's what you want. However, because of the close boundary with Muskegon county, don't forget to check there for information. Thanks to all who suggested Nunica. This appears to be the one I want. I did find a death of a different child of George W. and Margaret Read - Mary M. Read, who died 12 July 1875 in Nunica at the age of 2M 6D, although I can't find her birth (death index says birth in Crockery twp). I can't find Lena in the birth records in 1876, but George and Margaret seem to have been there at least in July 1875. George and Margaret do not show up in the marriages of Ottawa County, but they may have married in Canada. And Margaret Read does not show up in the Ottawa Co. death index. However, I am sure Nunica is what I want, and I'll pursue records there. Death certificate information is only as good as the informant's knowledge - and she (in this case the daughter in Illinois) could have been way off. I have found these as "mun" beginnings in Michigan: MUNGER, MUNISING, MUNITH, MUNSON, MUNUSCONG, and none of these look promising. The parents were both from Canada, so I wonder about a village or something close to where they may have come into the country. Will look again at immigration lists although so far I haven't found Read coming in. Also must consider another vowel instead of the "u". Will try that, too. Again, thanks. Marie PS- Joyce, Patiann gave a good explanation - just delete the emails themselves that are of no interest - don't get off the list.
