    3. Joseph and Thomas Rogers were twins, born in 1805, in Palmyra, Wayne County, New York. I am looking for their parents. Joseph had grist mills and initially lived in Geddesburg. Thomas was a cradle-maker. They were neighbors in the 1860 census of Ann Arbor. Joseph's family seemed to stay in Ann Arbor, Thomas' s family moved at some time to Vevay, Ingham County. Joseph's wife: Julia Sheffield Children. Harriet b. 1841 Theodore b. 1843 (my Grandfather) Helen b. 1845 Clara b. 1847 Georgiana b. 1850 Miles b. 1853 Mark b. 1856 Thomas' wife: 1. Louisa ------- 2. 3. Try to obtain a copy of his death certificate from the county clerk's office. Most of the time, the names of the parents are listed on the document, if it's known, in the state of Michigan. Also, if you're lucky, more than Canada would be shown on the "place of birth" page. Try the county clerk's office for the last known county he lived in. You can Google it and the address will come up. Good luck. Kathy --- S Gallagher <[email protected]> wrote: > Hello, I am new to this list. So many of us are product of Canadian ancestors…one way or another. I am certainly going to utilize this avenue of approach. John E Long

Do we have any connection to the many 'Longs of England'… there were a lot! But we need a link. Any help on this would surely be appreciated. ***************************** The theme of this list is Michigan genealogy and research. Please respect others by keeping your postings to this theme. 3. John If you will go to http://www.rootsweb.com/ you can search through about a bezillion genealogy lists for whatever area you are interested in. In your situation, were I doing it, I'd start with http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/index.html go to the International section and click on Canada That will give you a whole list of areas in Canada to start. Sign up for a list - for example - BRITISH-CANADIAN or CAN-ONT-YORK (which is where Toronto is, in York County, Ontario) Start asking questions there and, when you get enough answers and leads to track back to specific areas of England, do the same thing with the ENGLAND lists. Always remember to give as much helpful information as possible, such as names, DATES!!, parents' names, places, what you have already searched, etc. Then follow up on any leads. And remember to THANK the people who steer you toward more information. Researchers love to share, but not with people who don't acknowledge what they have been given. (You'd be appalled at how many people fail to even say thank you) Good luck and happy hunting.
