[my notes] page 735-6: SMITH ""James Smith had a grant of 50 acres in 1669. He was living in Berwick in 1668. He married Martha, dau of Thomas WILLS of Exeter,England, who married Mary Wadel. Martha was born in Bristol,Eng., 18 Jan 1653. She married (2) Christopher GRANT and was captured by Indians 18 Nov 1690 and bapt 3 May 1693 in Canada. He died in 1687,leaving widow Martha and following children: i.James m.Martha BRADGON and settled in York [see HISTORY OF LITCHFIELD,ME] ii. Mary iii.Elizabeth - John-2 [James?], son of James,married Elizabeth(___) and lived in Berwick.
