    1. Re: [MEYORK] List of Freemen,...1652 KITTERY.....see Cynthia's response
    2. Ted: That posting was re-posted in error as it was already posted as you said Jan 23. The posting was still in my draft file and without checking the dates,I just had it sent (as I have few made up in advance) -- That's correct Massachusetts never "owned Maine"....I never said it did....It was under the JURISDICTION of Massachusetts which I believe means under the courts of the time....which was located in Boston -- I am only sending out information that is in the books... I have no control of what is printed in the books...correct or otherwise. Just like any source of information you come across doing family research, you need to check out the information REGARDLESS where it's from....and that is up to each individual to do so....as I cannot make changes to what is in the book and have no intention of doing so. EVERy spelling for names, towns,etc.. remain as shown...no corrections UNLESS I have direct knowledge of a particular name that I have already done research on,especially family names. --- As for Stackpole's "Old Kittery and her families"....unfortuately not many of us can afford that book.....and not all libraries have it. That book probably has errors too. --- I understand that the Massachusetts State Archives has the information in regards to early "oaths of allegiances" and also the "Oaths of Submission". --- "12 days have passed with no correction..." as I said previously, I didnt intend to post it. Also, I work full time and dont have time to do a lot of checking for each posting when it comes from the books I have....as I will not change any informtion that I do not have any direct knowledge of..... ---- Interesting...you mentioned ...... > (Probably not because Massiacs block Maineacs' left lanes.)<< my husband is what you call a "Maineac"....born and raised in Maine.... ----- >> (I don't normally favor full quotebacks in e-mail or to List > but one may be appropriate in this case<< yeah right I just wished you had contacted me prior to sending this out on the list as I would have sent a "correction notice" to the list myself when I was made aware that it was the same posting. ---- Cynthia Bunnydust@attbi.com > This is a caution about errors in some recent posts to MEYORK-L. > > To readers of the York County, Maine genealogical interest group: > When Goodlady Cynthia ("as Bunnydust") started her "Freemen" > posts, including Kittery, below, (which she'd also sent Jan. 23 to > this MEYORK-List), I wrote her privately that a CAUTION should > be given that MAJOR ERRORS IN TRANSCRIPTION were made > somewhere along the line, which should not be knowingly > repeated or compounded.
