    1. [MEYORK] RE: Fisher / Davis Families
    2. I found this note written by my g-grandfather around 1900 and am having a difficult time finding anything about the "Fisher" or "Davis" families to which he is referring. Any assistance would be more than welcome. (What I do know: Almira Davis b1810 married to John Fisher b1806; They had a daughter, Mary D Fisher, b 1833 who married, (1) John Williamson, (2) Henry Williamson) Thanks for any assistance you can provide Sharen "On our great-grandmother Fisher's side were people of good standing as shipbuilders in Kennebunk Port, Maine--Snows, Mitchells, Kimballs. Great-grandfather Fisher lost all connection with his family at twelve years of age when his father died in Massachusetts. He, being the oldest child, was apprenticed to a Mr. White, carpenter, in Kennebunk, Maine, four or five miles from the Port, and there he learned the trade, becoming very expert. He has to his credit a pier at the Port running out into the Atlantic Ocean. Easy to see how he became acquainted with Almira Davis of Kennebunk Port, our great-grandmother. Almira Davis had a brother, Captain John Davis, of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, who sailed to England many times on merchant vessels. His wife, Eliza, and her sister sailed with him twenty-two times. In 1868 he retired. Another brother, James, was long editor of a Boston newspaper."
